The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and evening meals are good. And when I am in the area again would be my 1st choice to stay.

All of the staff were so lovely, really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, without being overbearing. I was initially a bit worried when I arrived as the bar was busy with loud music but it was turned off by about 11. The cost was very reasonable too but I would say the staff made it for me.

Good stay
Good last minute stay to attend a Brewdog beer festival. Helpful staff and good breakfast. The room was fine but the street outside was noisy.

We were only staying the one night at Hogmanay. As this was a national holiday no cooked breakfast was available which was understandable due to staff on holiday. The room was clean and comfortable unfortunately it was up three flights of stairs (no lifts). Overall althoigh a short stay i would recommend the hotel.

Our original booking had been cancelled due to Covid so we were in a bit of a last minute pickle. However, was pleased that the Buchan could accommodate us just a few days before a family get together. Staff very pleasant and food was good maybe a tad slow on occasions however...you can't have everything. My only criticism was I ordered a beef sandwich. Given that the meat was on the rack so to speak.... I had expected a hot beef sandwich... it was cold. Not ideal but all in all would still eat there and of course stay there again. Just next time...if someone orders a hot beef sandwich....it should be just that. Good luck and keep up the good work.:)

A nice hotel conviently situated
While the single room I stayed in was a little on the small side it was perfectly clean and in v good order, the food was very good and served by exceptional staff

Short Stay
One night stay on a golf trip. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Ate there in the evening - very good standard. Breakfast was very good as well. Stayed in a single room which was fine for 1 night but it was “compact”. However the price was very reasonable and excellent value for money.

Weekend away
The room I stayed in was clean. First day shower was good and hot but on the sunday morning I woke up early and went for a shower. Let it run a few mins but didn't get any hot water so had to have a cold shower. The noise from the downstairs bar was prominent but went silent at 12. Over all for the price it was good few downside but you can manage.

Nice place
Traditional pub restaurant hotel type place. Kind of old building you crack your head on low ceilings going up stairs and has labyrinth of corridors to get to rooms. Rooms great, staff great no complaints.

Just what we needed for a one night stay across Scotland, right in the heart of town and the free parking is super helpful. We ate elsewhere but the menus looked nice

Good first impression
Yet another essential travel overnight stay.The hotel was only open for key workers, and as such had limited services. The Bedroom was clean and well appointed, the staff were very helpful. Will certainly go back again, when hopefully Covid19 is history

Quiet Christmas break
Visiting family in Ellon, stayed for 4 nights over Christmas. Having breakfast available over Christmas Day was a nice bonus (at check-in we were made aware that breakfast wasn't available on Boxing day, which was absolutely fine) The restaurant went out of their way to accommodate for gluten free / dairy free options, which was greatly appreciated. Room was clean and well presented, will stay again. thanks!

Nice staff, average food, tiny beds.
We payed the extra money and booked executive rooms, but it was obvious that they had given the exec rooms away as the hotel was full and we arrived late, and we were left with whatever was available. Unfortunately there was no WiFi in that corner of the hotel, so no internet in our room and the food in the restaurant was very average at best, but surprisingly pricy, which I could have overlooked... However the room had 2 small beds (which couldn’t be put together) both of which actually smaller than single beds, more like 3/4 the size of a regular single. Needles to say, with my feet hanging off the end of the bad and arms over the edge either side I got absolutely no sleep that night. Thing is I’m about 5”11 and thin.. big guys would have absolutely no chance. The staff were all lovely by the way, but after a night of no sleep whatsoever I was exhausted for work the next day. Not really for me this place.
