A pleasant stay!
I had a very pleasant stay, the staff were warm and welcoming and my room was of a good standard. The restaurant was shut at the time, though given the nature of things at the moment it was perfectly understandable. The staff were very helpful in recommending other eateries in Banchory.

Not worth the price.
Bed very hard. No extra pillows. TV so small it couldn’t be seen from the bed and there was no chair to sit on to watch just a small round stool. Paid £80 but it’s a £40 room at best.

As you would expect from a pub the room was basic however the bed was comfy with lovely fresh bedding and soft pillows. The bathroom was nice and clean with soft white towels. The food in the restaurant was good and staff were very nice and helpful.

Winter Break
I think the bed and the room was quite comfortable and had plenty of room. Although if you are looking for a desk and chairs then this isn't available. I felt it was over warm at night and cold earlier before they put on the heating. I am not used to too much heat in the bedroom. Had to turn it down.or open the window. I did like the little bedside lamp that could be put on quite low and another tap would make it brighter. The teas and coffees available were basic with white sugar only but they do provide mugs and also at breakfast there were mugs but brown sugar was also provided. I did not quite understand the breakfast. They gave us a menu with price list but at the end of our stay they charged £8 per breakfast regardless of what we ate. We had the cooked breakfast the first morning but I decided the next morning to opt for the home made granola with fresh fruit and yogurt which was very nice. My husband only felt like a bacon roll. Certainly, if you wished cereal this was also available to help yourself with orange or apple juice. Nearby there were a few things to see in the winter. Two castles nearby on the bus route were open and weekend and I would certainly recommend visit the Banchory Garden Centre in Raemoir Road which has a 5-star rating. Coming up to Christmas there are plenty of gifts and Christmas decorations to buy with animated scenes and also a coffee shop at one end an a restaurant at the other. So well worth a visit.

Somewhere to rest our heads after attending a wedding in the area. Our stay was acceptable though a little disappointing. Mention should be made of the friendly and attentive staff.

Chambre spacieuse mais sale. La nourriture (petit dejeuner compris dans la réservation et dîner non compris) est infecte. C'est trop cher pour ce que s'est. A éviter.

Lack of coordination
We booked for two nights and paid accordingly,however after booking we were advised by my wife's doctor that she had an appointment, that in her own interests she would have to attend. On arrival at the Douglas I did inform who I believe was either the owner or manager of our predicament. He responded by advising we had booked two nights and would have to pay for two nights. I contacted a member of Hotels . Com ,she was very helpful ,she phoned the hotel,then contacted her supervisor at Hotels.com,we were offered compensation,the amount offered was in my opinion considering the circumstances an insult.

We like the car park which was right in front of the hotel.The staff we met were friendly and cheerful. The family room we stayed was big and comfortable. The food was relatively inexpensive and good. Although we could stay for only one night, we really enjoy ourselves and chatting with the friendly locals.

Great value hotel.
Quick check-in and shown to our room. Room and en-suite recently refurbished. Clean and comfortable. Double bed was small. Excellent, waitress served cooked breakfast. Friendly staff.

Lovely bar and restaurant area with good real ales on hand pull though I didn't eat. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The Full Scottish breakfast was a bit disappointing the next morning, nothing special and even my extra ordered toast didn't manage to come warm. And I had my breakfast before the powercut! We had some noisy neighbours in the room next door so sound insulation in that room wasn't particularly good, can't speak for the rest. The location is excellent on Banchory high street with lots to do on the door step and good local information in the rooms. Wifi connected but extremely slow.
