The rooms were really nice, exactly like the pictures. Amazing view and the staff/service was exceptional. Our flight was canceled and we got re-booked on an earlier flight, they already had our room ready when we arrived and allowed us to check in straight away. Great stay!

Great area to stay in,room was nice but right from the get go there was a lack of service. We arrived at 5.30 pm and on check in I asked were the pool was as we were dying to have a swim to unwind. We were told the pool closes at 6pm but the pool bar stays open till 10 pm. We were very disappointed as we chose a property with a pool so we could swim in the evenings as we had full days. I have never stayed in a hotel with a pool that closed before 10pm either. Reason for early close - lack of staff. Ok so will have a cocktail and get in part of the plan,dump bags in room go down only to be told hurry up bar closes at 6.30 ! I said I was told 10pm , no lack of staff closing at 6.30. We would have had dinner there but by this point we’re getting sick of the hotel culture and unsure of if they could cope with dinner. Had a great dinner out, came back around 8.30 got to our room went to make a cup of tea , only cups , rang down asked for mugs they said will send some up. Three quarters of an hour later rang down again they said they were coming but short staffed ! Never came ! If they don’t have them just say so , don’t leave people waiting ! In the morning I asked at reception and she apologised and said I’ll send some up , two more cups NOT mugs were on the bench.We had to get takeaway cups in the end. Also I had medication on the bathroom bench next to the glass to take next day and it was thrown out by the cleaning staff. We walked away from there shaking our heads.

the only option was valet parking, which wasnt something that i am after. i prefer to be able to park myself and able to access my car anytime. i ended up parking in a near by car park where i had to pay per entry.

The night of our stay the hotel had lost power. We were not advised of this prior to arrival or we would have not stayed. We had no air-con and half the lights and outlets weren't working. I made a complaint on the 4th January via email directly with Rydges South Bank about the night of our stay. I received a response that same day which I was very happy with, advising we would be refunded in full for our stay. I was advised the refund would be processed in 5-10 business days. It has now been over that time-frame and I have attempted to contact them twice via email over the last few days and no response. I made another complaint via their website and will see what happens. It is a shame as the hotel itself in the past has been great to deal with and facilities are great. I didn't write a review about the power outage initially as out of their control however, now I am a bit frustrated and hopefully this review will be seen and dealt with.

While we understand the challenges posed by the unexpected power outage, we find it disappointing that despite receiving a full refund, your experience led to a negative review. Your refund was already processed, as noted in my email on 19th January 2024. Recognising your frustration with the refund processing times as these differ from financial institution. Should you have additional questions or require further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out.

The guys on arrival come straight up to you asking for your keys. I said I’m ok I’ll check in and park it myself. He replies, no we park all the cars here for the customers and proceeded to give me a small numbered ticket to which I said was a great service and thank you. Little did I know that it was $55 dollars a day!!! I found this out 4 days later at check out. My car was $35 a day and the hotel completely blindsided me with $55 a day for 4 days that I drove 3 times. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION BEWARE

The location and facility are excellent. The staff are friendly but the service was very poor. Frequently our calls to reception went unanswered. We waited over an hour for a blanket to be delivered. The pool was closed and the spa broken. For a family getaway this was very disappointing. Our room was missing many items, including soap and it took some time to have it available. Would recommend considering one of the many other close by hotels. I did ask to speak to someone about the concerns but was brushed aside.

Decent hotel, rude and untrained front desk
Hotel and the room are ok, service and personnel were rude and unable to handle a power outage situation. We stayed for one day and the hotel did not have power, just emergency power. we arrived at 6pm and room was not ready yet, front desk rudely offered a "refund" which was not helpful last minute. We were finally checked in around 10:30pm, there was no AC through the night and rooms were hot. While the power outage was not controllable by hotel staff, they were rude and unprofessional in all interactions and unable to manage the situation.

The property is in a great location for dining, entertainment, and public transportation options. The property itself seemed clean and the staff was friendly. We chose to depart a day early due to an unfortunate loss of electricity and water beyond the hotel’s span of control. The staff did a great job holding lights in the stairwells for families to navigate while the elevators were down due to the electrical issue. Our room became quite warm and we didn’t have the ability to shower or use the toilet, so we asked for a refund before departing to a different hotel. We were advised to request our refund through Expedia since we did not book directly with the hotel, so we will soon start the refund process through Expedia.

Car parking was very expensive - $55/day and not much parking around Southbank. Also, the hotel lost power for 2 out of the 5 days I stayed there but this was partially compensated for by refunding a percentage of what I had originally paid. Overall was satisfied with my stay. A very clean hotel in the heart of Southbank.

Hi Nader - Thanks for your feedback around Valet Parking. We have found, after review of similiar offerings in other hotels in the area and across Brisbane that 55 a night is in line with the industry standard. For those budget minded travelers, we do recommend parking at the Convention center which is cheaper or alternatively street parking which can be found on the Brisbane City Council Website. We hope you had a safe onward travel.

Very poor service. hotel linen was not changed and we always had confused staff who made mistakes.They could not handle the big public holidays and it looked that they were poorly trained and also they were under staff.Very less than I expected for the Rydges hotel Brand
