Hotel manager is very kind and funny but hotel is ratjer rundown. Feels like a 3 star hotel that has seen its best years already. Rooms are dusty, breakfast tables not wiped, every step you will see sth broken. But that is a picture we whitness nowadays in most previously highly rated hotels. Due to Covid and lock down there was no money to maintain the hotels. The humidity in sri lanka quickly destroys materials so they need constant maintenance.

A hidden little gem
The last bit of approach to the resort is through an unpaved road. So its natural to be skeptical about what awaits you. But being in a secluded area probably gives the luxury of space. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to get such a property at a fairly reasonable price.
There are 2 buildings. Try to select the older one since it provides a view of the Sigriya Rock, the biggest attraction around Dambulla. I stayed in the new wing. The family room was quite spacious and overlooked lush forest. The washroom was also large sized.
We ordered a la carte for dinner and dishes were well prepared. Breakfast was sumptuous as well. Since there were a lot of cancellations due to Covid, the staff was always around to help the few guests. They kept chatting us up to make us feel welcome.
Overall a nice well run small resort.

Excellent service, nice room and a great pool. The buffet dinner and breakfast was delicious and served great Sri Lankan food.

Difficult to access. Staff needs training.
Hotel is accessible only by a really rough mud path. Upon check in, I was given a room with only one king bed. I specified preference for one king and one twin in my booking. Somehow this information wasn't submitted to the hotel. Hotel staff didn't take any initiative to resolve this issue at all until I pushed them one step at a time.
