I booked my room well in advance, when I arrived at the property, they did not have a room with 2 beds as I had booked. They "upgraded" us to a suite with one bed, and said they would bring a roll away bed which they never did. The trash in our room was never taken out during the 4 days we were there. House keeping didn't even stop by until after 5pm one day. Very disappointed.

I honestly enjoyed staying here. It was very close to the location that I was visiting while I was staying Downtown, I liked how safe it was and that we needed a working key card to go up to our floor in the elevator. I was surprised that parking wasn't free in the hotel parking garage. I have never stayed at a hotel where I still had to pay for parking. I also didn't love how many different elevators I had to take just to find my way around, it was tedious to get to my room. However checkout was at noon which was nice.

Our reservation had been cancelled when we checked in. My Expedia account had the status of Booked for the Westin. I had not personally cancelled the reservation. But somehow our reservation was cancelled and we had to book at another hotel. Is this a common Expedia experience or is Westin accountable?

Housekeeping staff: top-notch. Front desk staff: Not super helpful or friendly. I booked a city view room and got something on the fourth floor with a view of an asphalt roof. Never got the free WiFi access I'm supposed to get as a Marriott Bonvoy member. The key cards are wonky and take multiple tries to work when operating the elevator or opening doors. Towel racks are almost non-existent in the rooms and not near the sink. The fitness center is well equipped and the hotel's happy hour, while a bit pricey, was well attended. The Metro is nearby and runs frequently, which was great for trips to the U of M campus and St. Paul. Decent restaurant choices nearby. Overall an average experience. I got a nice deal from Expedia so I'm not mad about it but will probably just get a Vrbo next time since I learned that Marriott won't let you earn loyalty points if you book through a third party. The hotel itself wasn't memorable enough to make me come back without that perk.
