"Even though the hotel was virtually empty (maybe total 4 people/groups), I was pretty disappointed with the first room offered. There is a separate section to the hotel (newer. not shown in the photos). The room was ground floor (though in the garden) and was not very impressive (unless you are purely looking for a bed to sleep in) and slightly musty (I have asthma). After asking for another room because of my asthma I was taken into the main building (in the photos) and given a much bigger room...

"I can't fault this hotel. I arrived at 5am after a 14 hour bus journey and even though my check in wasn't until 12 they found me a room and I was asleep by 6. All at no extra cost I've never felt so welcome. Lovely staff, clean and quiet hotel and really convenient for the centre of town. Zero complaints."

"The staff is nice, but not ready to help tourists. They cannot provide information and the hotel is not close to tourist attractions, dining, transportation, etc. They gave us a room in a third floor without elevators and offer no help with our luggage. It is hard to climb stairs if you are not used to the altitude. The photos on the website give the impression that the place has a larger outdoor area. The turf of part of the garden is covered with artificial grass."

"Leider war das Zimmer (Junior Suite) nicht sauber. Zwar war das Personal stehts um Sauberkeit bemüht, hat aber nicht geholfen. Eigentlich schade, da ich von den Riviera Hotels was anderes gewohnt bin. Und ja, leider stimmt es, wenn man ein Zimmer zur Strassenseite hat ist der Lärm unerträglich. Leider geht der Lärm bis spät in die Nacht und beginnt schon ab 5 Uhr. Wenig Schlaf is da vorprogramiert. Meiner Ansicht nach sollte das Hotel darauf achten, das die Suiten nicht zur Strasse...

"Fantastisch hotel, gerund door een Peruaanse familie. Echte aanrader. Goed gelegen, en gevestigd in een mooi historisch koloniaal huis. De service tijdens ons verblijf was uitmuntend. We hebben dat op een bijzondere manier mogen ervaren. Zeer vriendelijk en gastvrij, en veel extra hulp toen mijn vrouw ziek werd. Nog zeer veel dank daarvoor! We hopen nog eens terug te komen naar Arequipa. We zullen dan zeker weer een kamer boeken bij El Balcon."

"No one answered the door to let us in. They wouldn’t answer their phone number and the location was hard to find as they didn’t have a sign for their location! Never got to sleep there and I hope I’m not going to get charged for this!"
