SCAM! Terrible dishonest host
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Bait & Switch scam.
We made reservations several months ago, and had messages through the VRBO app, even up through the day we flew from the US to Lisbon, yet when we arrived we were told "there was a synchronization problem" so the apartment we scheduled and paid for months ago (when we had plenty of options) was no longer available.
At this point there were absolutely no reasonably similar price available anywhere near. The host said they had 1 similar apartment, so we et their employee to view the unit. Neighborhood (Areeiro) is several miles from the Martim Moniz location we had carefully chosen for proximity to all our scheduled activities, which is very important as we are traveling with my elderly in-laws who cannot walk far, so we had the extra time and expense for taxis every day to travel from Areeiro to Martim Moniz.
The Areeiro apartment was DEFINITELY sub-part, with MANY problems including a leaking bathroom with a nasty mold odor, which sure appears to have been an on-going problem, which flooded the bathroom in the middle of the night.
All responses from the host were VERY unprofessional, as if we should have just been grateful to have this apartment, and refused to give a price adjustment for this sub-par apartment.
There are too many other issues to even go into in this space. Beyond disappointment, and the stress they have caused us made such a negative impact on our long-planned vacation.
