I have been going on holiday to St. Andrews for many, many years but have only stayed in The Old Course once before. This was a superb experience. I had paid extra for a room with a sea view and my goodness was it worth it! I think I had the best view of the golf course, the West Sands and the town! It was totally magnificent. The room was lovely and the facilities were superb. I used the Leisure Pool, which was quite difficult to find but was very quiet at the time I was using it. I also ate in The Sands Grill and this was excellent . The Cullen skink was outstanding, then I had the venison which was melt-in-your-mouth tasty. Breakfast in The Road Hole Restaurant on the 4th floor was very special. I managed to get a coveted window seat, which must have been just above my room, because again, the views of the golf course, beach and the town were just outstanding. Breakfast was superb in all aspects. The food is delicious and locally sourced as much as possible. Service is attentive but not over the top. For anyone with a love of golf, a stay here is just so magnificent. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
