Nosy Komba is an ancient volcano (Antaninaomby) where it is possible to go on long and beautiful hikes, surrounded by medicinal plants (traditional medicine plays a very important role in Nosy Komba) and wild animals. Over its 25 square kilometres, this island has large open spaces as well as a dense and thick tropical rainforest. The cultivation of vanilla, cocoa, and pepper is part of the uniqueness and originality of this place. Nosy Komba is protected by large volcanic rocks with magnificent scenery. The island is covered with lush vegetation, with large trees dominating the canopy and evergreen trees, epiphytic plants, and a good number of medicinal plants… The walk will pass by vanilla, cocoa, coffee, and pepper plantations, as well as fruit trees.
There are numerous trails on Nosy Komba. They cross the island in all directions. You can start from any village by the sea and then begin your ascent. Preferably, leave early in the morning from Nosy-Be when the sun is still low and return in the afternoon after lunch to the northern or southern village, depending on where you start the hike.
