Duisburg stopover

For a quick stop over In Duisburg this hotel was perfect with one of best hotel showers! It’s right next to the main train station with a few bars and restaurants nearby.

My business trip plan changed and I had to leave one day earlier. The booking was done via Hotels.com and after several requests the hotel refused to refund the last night that I did not spend in the hotel. Clients should not be responsible for the eventual frictions between the hotel and Hotel.com or Expedia.com

The drinks dispenser was out of order when we wished to purchase drinks We asked if the bar could be opened as the dispenser was out of order.The person managing the reception was completely dismissive unhelpful and told us to go elsewhere if we needed refreshments our host has taken this advice and has now booked future rooms in a different hotel.

Good, but a lot room for improvement.

I have been satisfied in the past. There are some issues I did not like: - On Sat. (!), at around 10:30 pm, it was not possible to get a drink at the bar. - There were sometimes not all the required towels in the room. - There were no tissues in the room. - I was not possible to leave stamped letters to be mailed at the reception desk before departure, a service that every hotel should provide. - One bottle of water as a courtesy when you are staying five days is not much of a courtesy. - Service personnel should not always knock and disturb to ask whether everything is fine. - Faucets in almost all rooms I ever stayed in were leaking. - Many sinks do not drain appropriately. - When taking showers, too much water enters the bathroom. - Some information about restaurants should be provided. What I still love to stay: - Closeness to train station. - Nice receptionists. - Public transportation is free. - Easy to leave luggage after departure in storage room.

Review the basics of customer service

The stay was absolutely fine. We had a couple of requests, and the staff members kindly helped us to find solutions.I have a couple tips to help you improve your customer service: Tip 1: Smile! Especially at the reception. Smile at your guests when they arrive, ask friendly questions like "how was your trip?" Smile at your guests when they approach the reception to ask questions. A warm, genuine smile will leave a lasting impression and create a more pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. (To be honest, I shouldn't have to say this... it's the basics of Hotel Management). Tip 2: Be aware of your surroundings (especially at breakfast). Acknowledge the presence of the guests! Welcome them, say good morning, smile, get out of the way (if you are blocking the guests path), and maybe even say something funny or friendly! Nobody said anything to me when I arrived at breakfast. This was unprofessional. Tip 3: This is more of a personal one, but stop clearing the plates so quickly at breakfast! One of my plates had perfectly good butter on it that I still wanted to use, but the staff member cleared everything too frequently, suddenly and without warning. A bit of communication and awareness would go a long way! These are nice gestures that you get in 5 star hotels in Germany, but around the world, it's actually quite normal! Some basic customer service skills will do wonders for your business (and reputation). After all, you want to make a profit, right? ;-)

Die Sauberkeit ließ an Kanten zu wünschen übrig. Auch im Bad an der Lüftung war eine dickes Staubkneul bereits vorhanden. Es scheint, als wenn nur oberflächlich gereinigt wurde. Der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption trug kein Namensschild und redete sehr schnell, so dass ich ihn nicht verstand. Beim Frühstück wurde mein Tisch abgeräumt, obwohl ich noch am Buffet war. Eine Volle Tasse Kaffee wurde somit entsorgt.

Check in was a bit bizarre. They asked me if I had been there before saying that I had previously left my room in a mess. It was my first time there. 😅. Besides that, everything was smooth, room clean and comfortable bed.

Sehr störender erster Eindruck. Der Haupteingang verschlossen (um19 Uhr). Rezeption war mit den anreisenden Gästen überfordert. Der online Check in hat zuerst nicht funktioniert, weil das Kartenlesegerät nicht richtig funktionierte. Kein schöner Empfang.

Tolle Unterkunft direkt am HBF

Tolles Zimmer. Uns hat vor allem die Schallisolierung gefallen. Obwohl unser Zimmer direkt an der Autobahn lag, haben wir nichts gehört. Im super-chicen Bad fanden wir die barrierefreie Dusche mit Regenschauer einfach nur toll. Auch das Bett war sehr gut und hatte eine tolle Einstiegs-Höhe. Besonders fanden wir auch, dass mitten in der Stadt ein Parkplatz für 19 Euro hinzugebucht werden konnte, auf dem wir unser Auto am Folgetag noch bis 18.00 stehen lassen durften. Für uns ein sehr zu empfehlendes Hotel.
