"Bay Resort Hoi An Great hotel, recently opened (mid-2023), with a excellent location overlooking the Thu Bon river and the old quarter of Hoi An on the opposite side. Short walk over the bridge to get the old quarter, just be prepared to cope with a limited pavement width and the traffic (which is typical across Vietnam to be honest). The hotel rooms were well equipped and the staff were amazing. Very helpful from check-in to check-out. Nice restaurant (we had lunch there and breakfasts) with a view across the river. There was also a good outdoor pool which we did not use. As I mentioned the hotel sits across the river from the old quarter and so it is an oasis of peace of quite with a wide embankment to walk along on this side of the river. At night you can enjoy the coloured lantern laden boats and the hotel organised a private boat for us which took us for 30 mins along the river (longer trips were available) during which we were given lanterns lit with candles to float in the river, before the boatman dropped us off on the market side of the river. The hotel also had free bikes to use – we did not, but many people seemed to. We did Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An and HCMC on our Vietnam itinerary and Hoi An and the Bay Resort hotel was the perfect place to pause the busy sightseeing and spend a relaxing day or two, while still getting to enjoy the busy old quarter of Hoi An.
