Hung Hom Promenade

Hung Hom Promenade
Spot notable landmarks on Hong Kong Island and watch the show “A Symphony of Lights” from this waterfront promenade in Kowloon’s Hung Hom area.

Magnificent views of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline across Kowloon Bay are a special treat that awaits at Hung Hom Promenade. This short waterfront pathway forms part of a 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) long promenade that connects the Tsim Sha Tsui Pier with Tai Shan Wan Park. Join the locals who come out in the evenings to walk and exercise along Hung Hom Promenade in the cooler temperatures. Marvel as Hong Kong Island becomes illuminated by thousands of neon lights.

Views from the cobblestone promenade incorporate Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Bay and Victoria Harbour. Major landmarks, such as the 1,227-feet (374-meter) tall Central Plaza and 1,811-feet (552-meter) high Victoria Peak, dominate the scenery. Find shelter from the sun at the covered terraces located at intervals along the promenade. Well-kept gardens and flowerbeds add a sprinkling of color to the area.

Come at varying times of the day to see the cityscape from a different perspective. Every day after sunset, buildings on Hong Kong Island become illuminated during A Symphony of Lights sound and light show. Watch as lasers and LED panels operate in harmony with a soundtrack by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. You can download an app to listen to the show’s audio via the official website of the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

If you are in the mood to walk, continue south where the pathway converges with the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade. After about 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) you’ll encounter the Avenue of Stars. See plaques and stars dedicated to cinema, music and television personalities, including actor Bruce Lee.

At the northern end of the promenade, the waterfront pathway winds around the coastline via the Whampoa Promenade. Children will have fun playing on the climbing frames, slides and swings of the playground at Tai Shan Wan Park.

Hung Hom Promenade is about a 30-minute walk from the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Kowloon. The nearest subway stations are Hung Hom Station and Whampoa. You can also catch a ferry from Hong Kong Island’s North Point Ferry Pier to the Hung Hom Ferry Pier.
