I have been asked to review the Kensington Gardens Hotel, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy. For the life of me, I can’t imagine why as Sonder, mere days before I was due to arrive, emailed to inform me it was “no longer able to honor” my reservation due a licensing issue between Sonder and Marriott. I was left scrambling to figure out what to do as I was now one day past my cancellation option via Expedia and was due to fly to the UK in a few days. Following hours on hold and in conversation with representatives from both Expedia and Marriott (attempts to reach Sonder by phone and online messaging were unsuccessful, as was an attempt to reach the hotel directly), I was assured I would not be penalized for a cancellation that was clearly not my fault and that I would be refunded the amount I paid up front through Expedia for my five-night booking. These statements proved false as I’ve since been told I would not be refunded the significant amount of money I paid — this despite the fact that, once again, I cancelled nothing and the situation was completely beyond my control. Additionally, I had to scramble to book another hotel, which given the short notice proved more expensive than my original booking. As I was to be in London on business, I had no option but to book something. So I was indeed surprised to receive requests to review my “stay” at the Kensington Gardens Hotel. As that stay was non-existent — as is the refund I was promised — my rating is decidedly one star.

Absolutely loved the area that I was in! The room was cute and worked really well for my two week stay. If I had questions, the staff answered them to the best of their ability! Sonder is located near two underground train stations which made getting around the city really easy. I wish they had some sort of protein option in their breakfast that was offered though because I have to follow a gluten free diet and was not able to eat any of the pasteries/breads available.

Our room was fine, except some of the outlets were for Indian plugs, which created an issue as my husband was unable to plug in his CPAP machine. They gave us an adapter that was Indian to European, which we made work. Everything is done through the Sonder app, but we were unable to request a room cleaning as that service “was not yet available”. The location was great, as transport, shopping and dining were all walking distance. The coffee machine was fantastic, but unnecessarily complicated.

The staff tried their best to accommodate our needs. They were very helpful. Our room was cleaned only once and it had to be requested. It was cleaned very well. But the room itself was small for a ten day stay. The bathroom shower curtain did not come down far enough and the floor was soaked after a shower. The location near Kensington Park was perfect for us. Breakfast was ample if simple but the fresh squeezed orange juice was terrific!

We loved our stay SO much. It was the perfect location and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I do wish there had been a few more breakfast options, that was my only complaint! Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice little spot. Quiet. But super close to all your needs. Made my first visit in London very smooth. Front desk is accommodating. No A/C in rooms but a fan is provided and the window opens. It never got brutally hot even in August. Highly recommend!

If you'd like to stay in a hot, uneven shoebox this is for you. The Staff we dealt with were mostly exceptional. Needs a compendium to show where things are eg. The essentials were on level 1. Power sockets don't meet modern requirements. Requires A/C, sheles & rails in bathroom. Not handicapped friendly.

CILADA TOTAL!!! CORRAM DESSE HOTEL!

Não é “hotel”! È um “flat” com recepção. Não tem serviço de quarto. Ou melhor, tem somente se você pagar um extra de 25£ por dia. Caso contrário, não entram nem para tirar o lixo. As amenities (sabonete líquido, shampoo e condicionador) embora de marcas de boa qualidade, são já utilizados por outros hóspedes que ficam previamente hospedados no mesmo quarto. Tanto os nossos quanto da nossa filha acabaram , deixamos as embalagens para fora no lixo e não foram repostos. Quarto extremamente quente. Esse especificamente não tem ar condicionado NEM ventilador de teto. Tivemos q pegar emprestado um ventilador de outro quarto que tinha ventilador de teto e estavam com um ventilador de “mesa” extra tamanho era o calor! Pegamos 33/34! Graus em Londres! Não tem frigobar nos quartos. Não trocam toalhas nem roupa de cama independente do número de diárias que você fique. Só tem limpeza, mediante pagamento extra! O café da manhã é das 07:00 às 10:30. Não deixam você tomar café às 06:50 mesmo já estando tudo montado. Só ligam a máquina de café exatamente às 07:00, MAS … 10:15 já começam a recolher tudo para q 10:30 já não tenha mais nada sobre o balcão. Decepção total! Principalmente estando ligado a Rede Marriot! Não ficaria lá novamente. Não indico pra ninguém.

“CORRE “BINO”! È CILADA!!!!”

Nenhum quarto do “hotel” tem ar condicionado. Ficamos em um quarto com ventilador de teto extremamente fraco que não aumenta a velocidade. O quarto de minha filha nem ventilador de teto tinha. Fez 34 graus em Londres nos dias em q estivemos lá. Os quartos são verdadeiras saunas. A janela (imagino q por questão de segurança) tem um cabo de aço limitando a abertura pra piorar o calor. NÃO TEM SERVIÇO DE QUARTO! Ficamos lá 13 DIÁRIAS e eles não entram no quarto nem pra tirar o lixo. O hóspede tem que tirar o lixo todos os dias e deixar do lado de fora da porta. Se não pagar 25£ a mais por dia eles nem entram no quarto. Não trocam toalhas, nem roupas de cama! 13 DIÁRIAS! Se quiséssemos limpeza no quarto tínhamos que pagar 25£ por dia. Não tem frigobar no quarto, embora eles temham 03 para todo o hotel; mediante imploração pros funcionários, como íamos ficar 13 diárias, colocaram 1 no nosso quarto. O café da manhã vai até as 10:30 mas dificilmente eles repõe os alimentos. Por volta de 10:15 já começam a retirar tudo para q 10:30 já não tenha mais nenhum alimento no local do café. Agora, ao contrário disso, um dia chegamos no café às 06:50 e nos avisaram q tínhamos q esperar 10 minutos, que o café era servido a partir das 07:00 e que somente as 07:00 a máquina de café seria ligada. Uma verdadeira DECEPÇÃO! Decepcionante a Rede MARRIOT estar ligada a um hotel desta categoria. Não me hospedaria novamente neste hotel. Não indico pra ninguém. A foto adicionada foi hoje às 10:20 am.
