The beds were comfortable, the home was very well stocked (both in the kitchen and in the games cabinet) and everything was as described. We had a great time on the lake and would recommend this place without hesitation!
A couple notes depending on your situation:
- There are a fair number of (somewhat tall and uneven) stairs down from where you park to get into the house and there are two curved stairways in the house as well, so this wouldn't be a great spot for folks with mobility issues
- The nearby Ripley Park is a lovely spot with a nice playground and a great beach - but you do have to pay to get in ($5/adult, $2/kid) so be aware of that
The Lake Ripley house was excellent for our large family gathering. We really enjoyed the large kitchen and dining area, plus ample bedrooms and baths. The lake is best for kayaking and fishing, but too weedy for swimming. We did kayak to the beach for a swim day. There was a pretty loud band playing at the marina on Saturday night, so not as peaceful as we would have hoped, but all other nights were quieter. We enjoyed the fire pit by the water’s edge and the huge deck. A few improvements are waiting to be done (broken pier, the gameroom needs some attention) but overall, but we are glad we stayed here. Lots to do and see in Cambridge… be sure to check out the garden and pottery stores in (and around) town.
The steps down to property were difficult and covered with leaves. After cleaning up the leaves, it was a bit easier.
The lock box was very difficult. I have used lock boxes in the past, This one was very temperamental.
The beds in the bunk bed room were not made up.
There was a window open upstairs when we checked in. The basement door was also open.
There was a tooth brush and underwear on the dresser in the bunk bed room.

so so
The house was nice, but was left not cleaned up. It was as if we were the first people in the house this summer. The water was terrible, weedy, mucky. No way to get in and out of kayaks safely. Ladder at dock would make it more usable.
There were many rules for guests to follow in a house that was left not ready for guests.
The door across basement stairs did not latch securely, we did have a 2 year old and we needed to keep a cooler in front of it for safety purposes.
The house did not give a fair warning about all the not so easy stairs outside, road to house stairs.
The area was nice so would consider renting again in the area.
The home had everything we needed and more, including plenty of water sport equipment and, as a surprise hit for mornings and evenings, puzzles! The owners were communicative and welcoming, although it took VRBO literally weeks and multiple requests to give me their contact information when I had a question about life jackets (the home has quite a few, for children and adults).
We had a wonderful time celebrating our son's marriage and having this beautiful home be home base for everyone. I loved all the different spaces so we could all have separate conversations going without talking over one another. The view was spectacular. Be ready for lots of steps going down to the front door. If you have someone in your party who is elderly or handicapped, this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, we loved this place.
A spacious household which accommodated our families well. Beautiful full kitchen. Awesome view of the lake. Not much room outside to play with little kids. Many steps due to the house location being on a hillside. Parking for four vehicles is bit of a stretch but our three full-size vehicles worked ok.
Overall the inside of the house was great and had lots of room. The yard is small but it’s on a lake so can’t really expect a large yard. The reason for the 3 stars is the dock. It is very narrow and in rough shape. It is hard to fish from with just two people and is not really safe for kids. If the dock was replaced with a newer, larger dock then this would be a great place to rent.

Perfect Lakehouse!
This is such a wonderful lake house! It had absolutely everything we could possibly need. They literally thought of everything! It is placed right on beautiful Lake Ripley in a quiet neighborhood. Beautiful views with lots of fun activities to be had by all. Our family had a wonderful time together. The neighbors are very kind and helpful. It has not been easy for them to have their quiet lake neighborhood, where they have lived for many, many years, interrupted by a weekly rental, but they were very gracious. I would recommend to anyone who stays here to respect the neighbors' property, especially sticking to only the parking spots in front of and to the side of the garage, to keep the noise levels down, and to watch your speed on the road. The neighbors are really kind people but need to be shown respect in regards to what is their own, as we all do. This is a beautiful place and we would love to stay here again in the future! It's a little piece of paradise and we are so thankful it was available to us!

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Provided everything we needed.
COVID changed our usual holiday plans so we decided to meet in the middle with some of our family at Lake Ripley. There was room for everyone and we enjoyed going into Cambridge to the local coffee shop. Although written in the description at the very end we missed the fact that the game room isn’t part of the house and isn’t usable in the winter months. We enjoyed our time together as family and would recommend this rental.
