"This is a hidden gem! Just 5min from the centre of Banos but away from the tourist noise. Historic - I sat at the table of Ecuador's first President. Room was spacious and looked out on the garden. Great bar and restaurant. But best of all were the staff and service. Especially Paul who always went the extra mile and continues to do so as I forgot some stuff. "This is a boutique like hotel. The property is very clean. I can tell that they take pride with the upkeep of the place and the staff is very kind. The location is great; near a park, a bank, and many dining options…but I think location is the same for most all hotel accommodations in this town because you can pretty much walk to every single thing in the city from any given point. We arrived to the hotel very early, were allowed to leave our luggage and we went to have breakfast at a nearby restaurant, returned to the hotel and sat in the lobby area (we were exhausted), a lady who I believe to be the owner stopped by and allowed us to check in early. Thank goodness for her. We really appreciated that. My only real issue was the water in the bathroom; we stayed in RM308. The water was always freezing from the sink (no hot or warm water there) and the shower water was a hassle to regulate, either extremely cold or scolding hot, I had to turn it off and on, off and on to complete my shower, because warm water only lasted about 90 seconds before going to either, too cold or too hot. There is also a condensation issue in the bathroom; everything (from the walls, mirror, toilet, sink, etc.) stayed wet, for several hours. I think a humidifier, or a way to crack open a window (in the bathroom), could help solve that problem. However, if I did ever return to Baños, I would still consider staying at Hotel Agave again. "
