The room was about a 5-minute walk from the reception and the breakfast/spa area — it took a few time to remember the route. But getting lost in Matera is also a kind of romance.”

“We arrived late on a Sunday in a heavy downpour. The town is very remote and there were zero options to eat anywhere or not even any supermarket. The owner originally said that his restaurant was closed on Sundays, but then felt bad for us and opened it just for us. The meal was great and he only charged us 53 euros for a dinner with wine. That was very reasonable although he could've taken advantage of our situation and charged us significantly more. The town though has nothing to offer other……
