Secluded Sicilian Paradise

We visited here on our honeymoon. Fantastic and relaxing place to stay while exploring Sicily. The host (and family) are extremely friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and accommodations are as advertised. Quiet place, great views, lovely pool. Very easy to explore Etna and a short drive to highway to explore the east coast of Sicily. Local recommendations from host for coffee, pastries, restaurants, and activities were all great. We hope to return in the future!

Great area, lovely owners

Very friendly and kind hosts. You can buy fresh eggs, avocados, wine etc all produced on site. Swimming pool is shared but in a private area. Quite a few steps and stairs, so maybe not ideal for the very young or old, but a great, quirky building surrounded by lemon trees and beautiful countryside.

What a magical place

We loved our stay here. We stayed in the old farm house and it was fantastic. Quirky, rustic and lovely. The main bedroom has air con but the rest of the place doesn't, but that didn't bother us. As the bedrooms are downstairs they are cooler. It even has a turret! The garden is a magical wonderland, with a treehouse sitting on an old olive tree, a tortoise, lemon and lime trees, grape vines... and all around, it has been carefully and subtly designed to create spaces with trees and lighting for differnet places to hang out. The pool is lovely and has a view of Etna. It erupted while we were there and it was very exciting. The hosts are lovely, great communication, very helpful - on-site but not under your feet. The location is fantastic for day trips around the East coast. Highly recommended!!

Best VRBO ever!

We loved our 6-night stay at this beautiful property on the slopes of Mt. Etna. This was the relaxation segment of a larger road trip around Southern Italy. Gabriela and Alfio were such welcoming guests, arranging pickups at the airport for some family who flew in to join us, offering baked goods and making available produce, eggs, wine, and other homemade products from the property. The absolute highlight was an excursion up the volcano, including a delicious picnic complete with tablecloth...expertly led and prepared by Alfio. The house, Il Palmento, is wonderfully quirky and felt authentically "Sicilian." There are a lot of stairs so it might not be ideal with someone with mobility issues. Daytrips to other towns on the eastern coast are easily planned, or just hanging out in the beautiful outside seating areas. We were even able to take a plunge in the pool in mid-October which was delightful and refreshing. Altogether it was a delightful stay - I hope to go back some day!

Wunderschöne Woche bei liebenswerten Gastgebern

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche bei Gabriella und Alfio, die sich beide unglaublich herzlich um ihre Gäste bemühen, das Palmento und die Anlage (samt tollem Pool) sind mit viel Liebe renoviert und alles war sehr sauber. Hervorragende selbstgemachte Produkte wie der gute junge Wein, Marmelade, Honig und der Limoncello, sowie die Möglichkeit, jeden Morgen frische Eier zu bekommen, sind super. Der Höhepunkt war unsere Bergtour auf den Etna, geführt von Alfio, dem man seine Erfahrung und den Respekt vor der Natur jederzeit anmerkt. In einer Nacht hatten wir dann noch das Glück, einen Ausbruch des Etna vom Ferienhaus aus (sichere Entfernung) verfolgen zu können, was speziell nach der Tour sehr beeindruckend war. Vielen Dank Gabriella und Alfio für die Gastfreundschaft und unsere schöne Woche!

Oase des Glücks

Diese überragend schöne Unterkunft und insbesondere Gabriellas warme, herzliche Art haben den Urlaub einfach unvergesslich gemacht. Das Ferienhaus ist wirklich tip top sauber und auf hohem Standard mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Den Pool hatten wir fast immer für uns allein. Absoluter Lieblings-Spot war die kleine erhöhte Terrasse, welche morgens noch im Schatten liegt und perfekt für Yoga oder einen stillen Kaffee wie gemacht ist. Weitere Highlights sind die Schildkröte im Garten und der Teileschrank im Garten, wo täglich frisches Obst, Gemüse, Eier, Wein usw. aus eigenem Anbau ausgelegt werden. Wir kommen definitiv wieder und haben die Unterkunft schon Freunden und Familie empfohlen! Vielen lieben Dank Gabriella <3

Schöner Urlaub bei netten Gastgebern

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub bei Gabriella und Alfi. Sie sind sehr herzliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, die viele gute Tipps geben. Hätten wir nicht zwei träge Teenager dabei gehabt, die lieber am wunderschönen Pool chillen wollten, hätten wir sicher noch mehr unternommen. So war eines der Highlights die von Alfi geführte Wanderung auf den Ätna mit anschließendem Picknick und Jeep Tour. Das Wetter war noch schön, die Strände (auch der Stadtstrand von Catania ist schön) waren leer. Alle Sizilianer, die wir getroffen haben waren freundlich, insbesondere unsere Gastgeber haben tapfer meine ersten italienischen Sprachversuche ertragen :-) Das Grundstück ist wunderschön und gepflegt. Es gibt eine kleine Vitrine aus der man Wein, Marmeladen und Eier kaufen kann. Das Haus ist sauber und genauso schön wie auf den Bildern, am Pool entspannt man mit Blick auf den Ätna. Ich kann eine Buchung sehr empfehlen.

Sizilienurlaub

Die Unterkunft war sehr schön (uhrig aber sehr sauber). Die Beschreibung im Internet absolut zutreffend. Toller Pool, sehr nette Vermieter, viel Platz, schöner Außenbereich zum sitzen. Die Lage in einem Bergdorf machte die Zufahrt etwas abenteuerlich aber es war ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Umgebung ( Ätna, Taormina, Sirakus …). Ein netter Ort zum abendlichen Essen war Zafferana Etnea (nur ca. 10 Minuten mit dem Auto).

Grüne Oase

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in der grünen Oase. Der Garten und die Ferienwohnung sind liebevoll gepflegt und gestaltet. Uns hat die familiäre Atmosphäre sehr gut gefallen. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und mit lokalen Obst und Gemüse versorgt. Unsere Kinder haben gerne im Pool gebadet, der sehr gepflegt und sauber ist. Die Vermieter hatten immer ein offenes Ohr für unsere Fragen und Anliegen. Es war ein sehr schöner Urlaub.

Wunderschöne Location - Nachbarn kann man sich nicht aussuchen

Ein wunderschönes Haus mit Garten und Pool. Alles sehr sauber und ordentlich sowie auch liebevoll dekoriert und eingerichtet. Was nicht ganz so schön war, war der Umstand, dass man sich den Platz vor dem Haus und den Pool noch mit anderen Gästen teilen musste. Gerade was den Garten/Platz vor dem Haus (mit Esstisch und Grill!) anbetraf, war das nicht optimal. Dieser lag nämlich direkt am Eingang unseres Hauses. Dadurch hatten wir außerhalb der eigenen Räume überhaupt keine Privatsphäre. Besonders mehrere französische Familien, die als Gruppe angereist waren, ignorierten sämtliche Haus- und Anstandsregeln, räucherten beim Grillen unsere frisch gewaschene Wäsche ein, liefen mit nackten Bierbäuchen durch die Gegend und machten sich im Gemeinschaftsbereich so breit, dass für andere kein Platz mehr blieb. Darum gibt es auch den Abzug im Punkt "Genauigkeit des online-Inserats": Dass man sich Garten, Esstisch und Pool in diesem Ausmaß mit anderen Gästen teilen muss, wird im Haus-Inserat nicht ersichtlich, das ginge sicher deutlicher. Zum Glück gibt es viele Möglichkeiten, den Tag auch außerhalb der Location zu verbringen. Das Verhalten von anderen Gästen können wir unseren tollen und total netten Vermietern nicht vorwerfen, weshalb es auch keinen Punktabzug dafür gibt. Gabriela und Alfio waren sehr offen, zuvorkommend und gastfreundlich. Ein großes Danke an euch und liebe Grüße aus Berlin!

Perfekter Urlaub

Die Unterkunft lässt keine Wünsche offen! Alles war traumhaft. Besser als auf den Bildern! Wunderschöne Lage am Fuße des Etna. Und die Hausgemachten Weine und Liköre sind unglaublich gut. Die Gastgeber haben alles gemacht um eine absolute Entspannungsoase zu schaffen. Super nett und sehr sympathisch! Wir bedanken uns für diesen sehr sehr schönen Urlaub. Kleine Oase am Etna

Wir hatten Mitte September das kleine Haus ( es ist wie auf den Fotos) gemietet, welches über 2Etagen geht. Die Treppe im inneren ist steil, man kann sie aber von außen umgehen. Da es einen zweiten Eingang zu den unteren Räumen gibt. Es war wunderschön, unter einem alten Olivenbaum , mit Hängematte und nicht gleich einsehbaren Sitzbereich ruhen zu können. Gabriella war immer erreichbar und Danke für die ganzen kleinen Annehmlichkeiten, wie den Wein ,die leckere Marmelade und die frischen Eier. Vor allem, dass es so kurzfristig mit den Ausflug zum Etna geklappt hat. Danke Dir und deiner Familie

Ein wirklich wunderschönes Ferienhaus in traumhafter Umgebung

Wir waren Anfang Oktober mit unseren 2 Kindern (10 und 13) für eine Woche bei Gabriella und Alfio zu Gast. Die ausgesprochen herzliche Art der beiden hat uns von Anfang an sehr gefallen - Gabriella hatte immer schöne und nützliche Tipps parat, Alfio überraschte uns fast täglich mit leckeren geernteten Früchten vom sehr gepflegten Grundstück. Es war sowohl im Haus als auch draußen sehr gepflegt und sauber. Im Garten gibt es einen stets gut gefüllten Schrank mit frischem Obst und Gemüse, Eiern der eigenen Hühner, Honig, Limoncello und nicht zuletzt dem äußerst leckeren selbst hergestellten Rotwein. Das Haus selbst liegt etwas außerhalb, fußläufig sind aber 2 Trattorien erreichbar, wobei der etwas weitere Weg zur Trattoria N´Da Calata für uns lohnenswerter war als die naheliegende Trattoria A Munacedda. Etna und Meer sind von der Dachterrasse aus zu sehen, es gibt aber auch noch unzählige weitere schöne Ausflüge zu alten Städtchen oder auch schöne Wanderungen in abgelegenen Schluchten mit Bademöglichkeiten in natürlichen Gumpen. In den Herbstferien hatten wir hier Temperaturen von 22-25°C, so ließ es sich wunderbar aushalten - das Meer war noch angenehm temperiert und die zahlreichen Strände hatten wir fast für uns allein. Überhaupt war es nicht so überlaufen - auf vielen Wanderungen waren wir teilweise stundenlang ganz allein unterwegs. Allein Catania war sehr voll mit Touristen, dass kann aber auch am großen Kreuzfahrtschiff gelegen haben, welches im Hafen vor Anker lag. Kurzum kommen wir bestimmt wieder und können die Unterkunft ohne Einschränkungen weiterempfehlen.

Most amazing vacation in Monacella!

We've spent our most beautiful two weeks of vacation in this amazing house and within this incredible landscape. We fell in love with the nice, clean, intimate and personal house. We were able to cook dinner, drink our coffee, see the sun go down or the moon rise on top of the house and we just found it perfect from the inside and the outside. The garden of the site was individually decorated and the family took great care of it. The two cats and the turtle were friendly and sweet. We were especially amazed by the family, Gabriella, Alfio, Riccardo and Alfredo, who were so nice, friendly, sharing and kind. We missed nothing, they were always there for us and we were even able to have fresh eggs and vegetables and the most delicious homemade wine. Alfio and Alfredo also went hiking with us to the etna during a couple of hours and prepared a Picknick afterwards which was delicious and wonderful. We've experienced a wonderful hiking day! So, just to say, grazie mille, we spent perfect holidays there and we will be back for sure!! Lisa & Giovanni

Urlaub am Fusse des Etnas

Sehr hilfsbereite, nette Vermieter. Trekkingtouren zum Etna mit dem Vermieter sind super, selbstgemachter Hauswein für die Abendstunden immer vorhanden. Das umgebaute Haus war früher für die Weinherstellung gemacht und ist sehr urig. Nur weiter zu empfehlen.

ein wunderschöner Ort zum Erholen

Wir wurden sehr herzlich von Gabriella und ihrer Familie empfangen. Das Haus, der herrliche Garten, der Pool mit tollem Blick auf den Ätna sind in sehr gepflegtem und sauberem Zustand. Die Gastgeber sind jederzeit ansprechbar und hilfsbereit. Es gibt Wein, Gemüse und täglich frische Eier von den hauseigenen Hühner zu kaufen...Ein Ort zum genießen. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder

ein traumhafter Platz

Il Palmento ist ein wunderschönes altes Haus, stilvoll eingerichtet, in einem phantastischen Garten, der liebevoll gepflegt ist. Den Pool hatten wir fast immer für uns allein. Gabriella und ihre Familie sind superfreundlich und diskret und haben uns mehrmals mit netten Aufmerksamkeiten aus dem Garten und eigener Herstellung bedacht. Die Umgebung bietet viele schöne Ausflugsziele. Wir waren ein bisschen traurig, als nach einer Woche unser Urlaub zu Ende war, weil wir im Il Palmento so wohl gefühlt haben.

The host family were generous, attentive and helpful. Their local knowledge is invaluable in planning local activities. The produce from their land was shared with us and an honesty box was used for eggs, veg, wine gifts etc at the property. Gabriella’s baking is exceptional- local recipes. Alfio’s escorted trip up Etna with picnic was exceptional & provided loads of information about the volcano. The house is quirky with all modern facilities. We loved it! The garden is stunning with a pool & views of Etna. Local shops & restaurants good & friendly service. Short drive to beach & Taormina. Loved this holiday & would definitely recommend the accommodation and will be back!

Herbstferien mit der Familie

Wir waren mit den unseren Kindern (9 und 12 jahre) eine Woche in Oktober hier und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das alte Haus ("palmento")wo früher Wein gemacht wurde, ist sehr authentisch, gut erhalten, groß und komfortabel. Der Garten ist wunderschön. den Kindern haben besonders das Baumhaus im Olivenbaum die Hängematte, der Pool und die Katzen gefallen, uns die Dachterrasse, der Kaffee und der Grill. Es gab frische Eier und selbstgemachten Wein. Gabriella und ihre Familie sind sehr warmherzig und tolle Gastgeber_innen! Danke!
