What you can expect

  • Discover the ancient kingdom of Macedonia on this small-group shore excursion from Thessaloniki, designed especially for cruise passengers seeking a comfortable, well-paced cultural experience. Travel to Vergina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Greece’s most important archaeological discoveries.

Your visit begins at the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, an extraordinary underground museum built around the original burial mounds of the Macedonian kings. Walk through the preserved royal tombs, including the one traditionally identified as King Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great.

Admire impressive gold artefacts, weapons, frescoes, and ceremonial objects that reveal the power of ancient Macedonia.

Continue to the Polycentric Museum of Aigai, where modern exhibitions and original findings bring the history and legacy of the Macedonian kingdom to life in a clear and engaging way. After the guided experience, enjoy some free time for photos before returning comfortably to Thessaloniki Port.
