The journey to Machulo Camp I (Khadi Broq) begins at Mashabrum House Local Homestay after a relaxed breakfast. The trek takes 3-4 hours, following the main route through the charming town of Machulo. The path, while slightly steep in sections, is relatively easy and enjoyable, offering trekkers a chance to immerse themselves in the serene surroundings. As you ascend, you’ll pass by lush terraced fields, traditional homes, and friendly locals going about their day. The trail provides stunning views of the rugged landscapes, with glimpses of towering peaks in the distance. You’ll gradually climb to an elevation of 3200 metres, where the campsite is located. Upon arrival at Khadi Broq, the camp offers breathtaking panoramas, a tranquil environment, and the opportunity to rest and acclimatise. As you ascend, the trail carries you step by step to a higher altitude of 4750m, offering progressively more expansive views of the surrounding mountains. The terrain remains manageable, making it a rewarding journey for trekkers of all levels. The campsite is located near an area where local residents of Machulo live with their cattle. Here, you can witness their daily routine of producing butter and cheese—a rare opportunity to observe traditional practices up close. The presence of cows, sheep, and Zomo (local cows) adds a unique charm, allowing trekkers to connect with the region's pastoral life.
