Then the Step it Up Adventures' Tripping Workshop is for you!

Step it Up Adventures is the only business in Central Ontario that offers a learn to backcountry camp learning experience. Our guides have a lifetime of experience in the backcountry and a passion to share their knowledge with others looking to learn and experience the outdoors.

This workshop is designed with your busy schedule and budget in mind.

We will be paddling the McDonald River, McCrae Lake and Georgian Bay (conditions permitting) in the District of Muskoka. An absolutely beautiful, yet accessible part of Ont.

Activity itinerary

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: How to pack for a backcountry trip; food options and preparation; how to select and safely set up you campsite; basic map reading and trip planning skills and knowledge of various types of backcountry gear to help you make informed decisions in purchasing your gear. ITINERARY: 1. ONLINE - Info session before the workshop weekend. 2. FRIDAY - Meet guide at the McCrae Lake car park between 12pm & 9pm; paddle into campsite; meet and greet with the guiding team and other campers; free time to enjoy and explore; dinner and a campfire. 3. SATURDAY - Meet guide at McCrae Lake car park by 10:30am (Sat. arrivals); paddle into campsite; practical paddling & portage session; portage into McCrae Lake; paddle to 2nd campsite; free time to enjoy and explore; dinner and a campfire. 4. SUNDAY - Pack up camp; portage into Georgian Bay (conditions permitting), or further exploration of McCrae Lake; free time to enjoy and explore, before returning to the car park. 5. MONDAY - Campers have the option to stay an additional night to test their skills nearby but solo; return to the car park at noon on Monday (additional fee). Visit us at stepitupadventures.ca
