Celestún: A natural paradise awaits you in Yucatán
Are you looking for an adventure and nature getaway? Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, a wildlife sanctuary that will leave you breathless. From Mérida, we will take you on a private trip to western Yucatán, where an unforgettable experience awaits you.
Aboard a private boat, you’ll venture into a magical world of mangroves, home to 560 animal species. Keep your eyes wide open, you may spot tiger herons, gulls, Canadian ducks, crocodiles, and even spider monkeys if luck is on your side.
The majestic spectacle of pink flamingos:
Celestún is famous for being one of the main breeding sites of the American flamingo. From December to March, you can visit the Celestún Biosphere Reserve and witness these elegant birds putting on an unparalleled show with their low flights and courtship.
Don't miss the opportunity to witness this wonderful spectacle of nature!
Exploration of Bird Island and visit to a freshwater spring
We will continue our boat tour to Bird Island, where we will admire its rich birdlife. Afterwards, we venture into a mangrove tunnel that feels straight out of a film. If you’ve never seen a freshwater spring in the middle of the mangroves, this is your chance to discover it. If the weather allows, you can immerse yourself in its crystal-clear and revitalising waters to mitigate the heat and renew energy.
Tasting Yucatecan cuisine and relaxation on the beach
To culminate this unforgettable experience, we will head to the beautiful beach of Puerto de Celestún. Delight in the authentic flavours of the Yucatecan coast in a typical restaurant by the sea. Relax with the spectacular view of the emerald waters, take a dip in the sea, sunbathe, and walk along the sand enjoying the sea breeze. Your guide will offer you restaurant options recommended by us, if you want the privacy of a Beach Club, you can request it from your guide at the beginning of the tour and we will gladly help you with the reservation (tickets not included).
Important note: Flamingo sightings are not guaranteed, as it depends on factors such as weather conditions and migration season. The recommended period for flamingo sightings is from December 15 to March 15. The rest of the year you can spot Flamingos, in small quantities but you can always be close to them in their natural habitat.
We will begin our return trip to Mérida to end the tour.
