Kyoto once flourished as the capital of Japan for over a thousand years until Tokyo became the capital and the emperor moved there in 1868. Let's stop and close our eyes. The sounds of the beautiful bamboo trunks and leaves touching each other in the morning breeze have a relaxing and soothing effect on the visitors.
Kinkakuji Temple

This is a famous temple which is an icon of Samurai culture. It once was the villa of retired shogun and was converted into a temple after his death. The main building covered with gold leaf is incredibly beautiful in itself. In addition to that, the harmony with the nearby pond and the surrounding garden makes the scenery magnificent. When you come to Kyoto, you can’t miss this site.

This temple is rather small for a temple in Kyoto, but its dry garden is well known as a representing Zen garden. Please sit on the veranda and gaze at the rocks and patterned sand which lead you into a deep meditation just as our ancestors experienced.

Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
