Picked this tour out of convenience for a group of 8 of us. We were taken by air conditioned coach from Sorrento to Pompeii and then met with a guide at the site who explained everything superbly for 2 hours. It was insanely hot (bring: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water) but we were so glad we paid for a guide/tour ahead of time as it made everything much more enjoyable in the hear. Really well organized, super informative, very nice leader. We each had an ear piece and a battery pack which meant you could hear the guide even when up to 15-feet away which i liked a lot. The trip took 5 hours max (9-2pm) and was well worth it. Pompeii is not to be missed IMO!

Traffic in Sorrento was horrendous that morning. We left our hotel in plenty of time, according to the recommendation of our hotel concierge. The taxi was late getting to us because of the traffic, and in turn we were late getting to the meeting spot. We arrived just as the bus left. The price was 160€ for the two of us. No refund. They never even offered us our tickets which we paid for. Pompeii was high on our list of attractions so we immediately took a taxi to the train station and went to Pompeii. The train was 5,20€ for both of us. We paid 39€ each to get in for a Skip the Line two hour tour. Spent another 5,20€ to take the train back to Sorrento. Do the math. The original tour was a rip off.
