This hotel could have easily gotten a 4 star review, except for the surprise fees they charge you after you check out. I was told, upon check in, that for each night there is a charge of an additional $100 as "a deposit for any meals charged to the room and any other room related charges." Ok, sounds reasonable, so if I don't charge anything to the room and don't damage anything, I should get the $500 back (I was there five nights), I thought. I was wrong, that's where they hide their resort fee and resort fee tax (why am I paying tax on a fee?) which amounted to a total of $420.03. The resort fee varied by day, between $70.84 (Thursday) to $84.50 (Saturday) for some reason, regardless of which on-site facilities were used (I didn't use any, unless you count the elevator). I went in the off season (June), so I imagine if you go during October-May you might have to put down a larger deposit and get even less back.
Also, a day after check out, they charged my card $200, then another $50 without any determinable reason, then left the charge pending for five days before it mysteriously went away after I put a hold on my card.
The staff is very helpful and polite. Alexis at the hotel bar is a great guy to talk to, and can answer any questions about the area. The restaurant on the beach has surprisingly good food for a hotel.
Overall a great stay, but I won't be going back because of their sketchy billing practices.
