Chatton has a village shop, a pub serving food, and Chatton Trout Fishery on the cusp of the village, which invites amateur anglers to fish without a rod licence in its well-stocked 4-acre lake. The small town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills and is only 5 miles inland - a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The challenging route of the ’St Cuthbert’s Way’ is close by. The stunning coastline this region is renowned for, is only a short drive east, with the majestic castle at Bamburgh well worth a visit. The Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed to the north, and Alnwick to the south, both offer a wide array of amenities around a half-hour drive away. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
Very pleasant stay at Stable cottage, which was comfortable, clean, quiet and had all we needed.
Very pleasant stay at Stable cottage, which was comfortable, clean, quiet and had all we needed. There is not much in the village (pub and 1 shop) but we were fine with this - Wooler is 10 minutes drive and has a larger Co-op food store and other amenities. 20 minutes to Bamburgh, 30 minutes to Lindisfarne/Alnwick.A minor point to note is that the upstairs bedroom (housing the boiler cupboard) can be rather warm when the boiler is on, but a fan is provided and the windows open wide.
