The Garden Rooms, Selborne - Jane Austin country & the South Downs National Park
Getaway to the beautiful Garden Rooms which have a light, comfortable and contemporary feel that perfectly complements the historic village setting, gardens and meadows surrounding it. It is a truly unique place to stay situated in one of Hampshire's most un-spoilt and characterful villages.
You will sleep in comfortable king size bed in cosy but airy, large double bedroom with a juliet balcony and generous windows giving relaxing garden views.
There is a bathroom (toilet, shower and basin) and a restful sittingroom downstairs with a comfortable armchair, sofa, writing desk, dining table and chairs.
On a small breakfast bar with stools there is a kettle, microwave, toaster, plates, cups, glasses, wine glasses, cutlery, milk, sugar, tea and coffee provided. There is the option to sit at the dining table inside or at the table and chairs on the terrace in the sunshine. An easy stroll away are La Luna Cafe, White’s Cafe and the Selborne Arms each providing easy refreshments and meals.
As we are within the South Downs National Park Dark Skies Low Light Zone it is a wonderfully spot for stargazing. Then pull the black-out curtains closed for an undisturbed nights sleep.
St Mary’s Church, Gilbert White’s House, Museum & Gardens and The Oates Collection are moments away as well as a gorgeous vintage clothes shop and and a retro furniture shop.
The village is surrounded by scenery of outstanding natural beauty very popular with walkers. We are on The Hanger Way walking route.
Amongst many nearby places of interest Jane Austin’s House & Museum and Chawton House with its RHS Partnership Garden in Chawton can be highly recommended.
The market town of Alton provides a range of facilities, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies as well as a mainline train station to London Waterloo in 1hr 5mins. The famous Watercress Line steam train also departs regularly from the same station travelling from Alton to Winchester and back.
There is private off road parking provided for one car directly outside to property with other parking in the village.
The A3 nearby provides a road route northwards to London and southwards to the South coast. We are equidistant to the airports of Heathrow and Gatwick and an easy drive to the international ferry ports of Southampton and Portsmouth.
