"Great stay at the May De Ville Lakeside. I will say that this being a 5 star hotel is a bit of a stretch but it is very nice and the people are 5 star. The rooms were clean with great linens and towels, comfy bed and adequate plugs for charging. We had dinner at the rooftop bar. We didn’t expect much as it was “bar food” but still it was very mediocre and the service was slow - unfortunate as it wasn’t busy. That aside we were there for the view and it did not disappoint. The hotel is in a great location if you like to be in the heart of activity - right at the night market on the weekend, but lots of shopping all the time, small eateries and great places to grab a beer. Short walk to the lake. We were only there for our last night in Hanoi but enjoyed it and would recommend."

"WOW, this hotel went OVER THE TOP. After making the amateur mistake of forgetting to get our visas, we visited another country waiting for the visas to come in. We contacted that hotel to explain and see if they could salvage our stay until we got visas. We lost the first night as it was too late to cancel (booked via EXPEDIA). After finding out that Expedia charged us for the entire stay, we spoke directly with the hotel's manager, Mr. Dong, who assured us that we would be credited the last 2 nights. After 5 days, visas in hand, we asked Mr.Dong if we could arrive at 10am the next day. He said no problem, we have you booked in. After no sleep on a red eye from Manila, we got to the hotel exhausted and smelly. The manager on duty, Ms. Ann, assured us that the room will be ready early, and invited us to enjoy breakfast (INCREDIBLE!) while they take our luggage to the room, which ended up being ready early, despite our last minute plans to arrive. It was very large, clean and bright and we were on cloud nine with the level of hospitality that we received during this ordeal. Both my wife and I run a small business in the hospitality world so we know how important this is. Needless to say, our expectations were greatly exceeded by the whole team, from management to the front desk, to the kitchen and the bell boys, all who took extra care to make sure we were going to the right places, for the right price. "We stayed for three nights and had a very good experience with great hospitality. The hotel is a beautiful boutique property located in the Old Quarter. Although it sits on a very busy street, the interior of the hotel is surprisingly quiet and comfortable. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful whenever we needed assistance. In particular, Derick stood out — he genuinely tried his best to accommodate our needs. As it was quite cold during our stay, he arranged a portable heater for us. When we noticed some noise coming from the gym on the 9th floor, Derick promptly helped us move to a quieter room, which we really appreciated. The rooms are pretty and well-maintained, with sufficient amenities. Some minor downside to me were that there is no bathtub and no disposable slippers provided, which may be something to note for some guests. The Vietnamese restaurant on the ground floor was also very good. The staff served us with enthusiasm and passion, making our dining experience enjoyable. Overall, a pleasant stay with attentive service in a great location."
