The staff of this hotel in Antigonish, NS was very helpful. They supplied a step stool to help my wife get into bed. The breakfast was good with basic breakfast food such as eggs and bacon and waffles. There was a restaurant on the premises for dinner providing a good selection of choices. I stayed at this same hotel on the way to Cape Breton island and on the the way home.

A big bonus for me was that there is a coin operated laundry available. You do have to go to the desk for the key and you have to reserve a time because there are long-term guests on the first floor who use the laundry regularly.
Love ttthgeee Scottish theme! Check out the huge sword mounted on a tartan background above the Check-in desk.

We arrived early and were thankful that we were able to check in before 4pm since we had a long drive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but I wouldn’t say run down. The elevator by the lobby was scary. It’s small and makes noises that tells it age. The pull out sofa was uncomfortable and the springs could be felt all night. There were two pillows on the queen bed and were small. Didn’t make for a comfortable sleep. There was no “do not disturb” hanger for the door so I assumed that housekeeping doesn’t come in unless requested. I assumed wrong. Was surprised to find the beds made when we got back to the room. The breakfast voucher for the restaurant attached were for the adults only and our son didn’t get one because he stayed “free”. He has never not been allowed breakfast for other hotels we have stayed at so this took us by surprise. The options for the restaurant were limited but not terrible. Although if we didn’t have the vouchers we probably never would have chosen to eat there. Overall, if we are back in the area we would consider staying here again.

Its cleanliness and the fact that it close to all the amenities: it's right beside the Antigonish Mall and 15 min walking distance from the downtown - makes it another reason why Claymore Inn is a GREAT place to stay! Their doors lock early after supper, I knew I would be late on arrival, and after calling ahead, they made certain that someone was there to get me checked in and settled into my suite. It was clean & comfortable with ease of access to everything. It was great.
