  • Tucked away in the tranquil mountains, the pet-friendly Hawk Haven cabin offers the perfect blend of peaceful seclusion and easy access to some of Western North Carolina's most loved destinations—Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Black Mountain (20–25 minutes), and Asheville (35–40 minutes). With spacious interiors, 5 bedrooms, and expansive mountain views from a huge deck, Hawk Haven is your group's go-to mountain retreat. Whether you're gathered around the fireplace in winter or grilling out on the deck in summer, this home is designed for comfort, relaxation, and connection.

    About the Home
    • Kitchen with spacious island, dishwasher, drip-style coffee maker, and kettle (please note the water dispenser does not work).
    • Dining area with seating for 6 and nearby island seating for 3
    • Open-air deck with seating and charcoal grill
    • Lower-level living room with TV for streaming

    Important to note: This home is pet-friendly with a $100 fee per dog (max of two). Due to common allergies, cats are not permitted. The fireplace is operable but not guaranteed as an amenity. It is very difficult to light, and Greybeard will not send a technician to assist. The ice maker and water dispenser on the fridge are non-functioning.

    Greybeard homes are located close to Pisgah National Forest. Ladybugs and Kudzu Beetles may be seen in our area in the fall and winter months, and it is not uncommon for them to find their way into homes to escape the cooler weather. They are not poisonous and cannot be exterminated.

    During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snowplow operations are possible within the development. From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also highly recommend travel insurance.

We just finished our trip to the Black Mountains and our stay at Hawk Haven. We could not be more pleased with the spacious cabin and the memories it helped us create! Our group of 9 had ample room to spread out and also to be together. While it was a 15-20 min drive to things, it was centrally located where nothing was too far away. We spend the daytime exploring the area and the evenings at the cabin cooking and playing games (or watching the sunset on the deck). There was plenty of parking for our 4 cars. We loved that there were only a few steps from the car to the main area of the cabin and the nice master bedroom that was on this level (while others liked the master that was upstairs). Bedrooms had plenty of privacy and were spacious with big closets. The view from the deck was amazing! The cabin had plenty of puzzles, games, books, and movies to use. We would definitely use this cabin again on future visits to the area.

Lovely area

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view from the deck is outstanding and the temps a lovely break from the heat. Unfortunately, the mattresses were too soft for 2 of our family so sleep was a challenge. Otherwise the house is very comfortable and had ample room for 6 people, including 2 children.

Relaxing comfortable stay. Kitchen was pretty well equipped but did need some items either removed or fixed. Could have been cleaner. Overall ok.

Wonderful view, clean but worn. Ice maker was deficient and tv remote batteries needed replaced. The trash receptacle was full but all in all a four star rating.

Stunning

What an awesome rental property for our group of 10 adults. The views were amazing and there was more than ample space in the home so none of us felt crowded. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. The only negative thing I can say is that you might want to bring your own knives. The knives in the kitchen aren’t very sharp but we did not let it stop us from eating. The drive in to this property was beautiful. There were a few winding roads but nothing too bad. Once you reach the property, you’ll have reached a little slice of heaven. We will definitely be booking this property again!

This house was exactly what we needed! 10 gals in our 70's. Highschool friends from many different states.Great variety of space outside and in. We wanted to be in the mountains and saw wonderful sights on the deck which is the length of the house.It is a drive of about 30 minutes from town. Be prepared for switchbacks and high incline. We went to Ashville, shops in Black Mountain were excellent. Food añd people were exceptional. Hendersonville for orchards and such more.We went to Pisgah for hikes and waterfalls. Parkway Highlands folk art museums were where we learned and bought presents for ourselves and others.Overall a very diverse and enjoyable experience. Wanted to support this area. Tourist support is the way folks have been asking for support and they gave us much more then we did gave back. Come and enjoy!

Nice house, Beautiful view

Description matched the house perfectly. It provided a gorgeous view from the deck and through the numerous French doors. . Drive up was pretty but steep and curvy. Our group was 18+ with 3 couples and two individuals. There was plenty of room to spread out and enough bedrooms to meet our needs. We mainly utilized this home as a resting/sleeping place while we explored the surrounding communities and activities. We did not cook, but the coffee pot works great! Big drawback was seating in the main floor living area. There is one couch, one over sized arm chair and a small rocker. We had to pull chairs from the dinning are for everyone to sit together. There is a tv downstairs and in one of the bedrooms, but not in the main are. We did not miss them. One final con was the bed in the top room was very squeaky and creaky when we tried to get comfortable and repositioning caused a bit of a wake up call for those using that room.
