5-Star Property Owned By 10-Star People
I decided to book an impulsive weekend getaway for my wife and I. After entering a few basic filters at VRBO but not knowing exactly where I wanted to take her, this cottage at Windy Hill Lavender Farm popped up. I looked at the pictures and thought, "Perfect"! I read a few dozen reviews, and they all said the same thing: Peaceful, pristine, immaculate property. I booked it and wish there were even better adjectives to describe our experience. This was one of the most delightful weekends we've experienced in all of our years together! The property is stunning. Rolling hills, a babbling brook, mature trees, tall silos all adorn this working farm. Kate's gardens are absolutely gorgeous. We were about two weeks early for the lavender harvest, but the bushes are beginning to bloom. The smell of lavender in my palms after running my hands over the stalks was a simple experience I've never enjoyed before. It reinforced how wonderful life is when we enjoy its simplest pleasures. We first met Kate while she was picking strawberries in one of her gardens. She was quick to give us as many berries as she had picked. So sweet, so hospitable. We ended both days of our stay around a fire inside the corn crib. The last night Chris and Kate were able to join us for an hour or so. They are beautiful, humble people. On our way out, Kate left my wife a yellow peony, knowing how much she loves them. If you are deciding whether to stay here, by all means do so. This place is phenomenal!

Host Cancelled our Stay the Day of - Beware
Sadly, I must write this poor review; one of those wishing I could leave 0 stars. I booked this rental back in June, received the appropriate confirmations and notices, including the check in email two day prior to our arrival. We were coming to the area to attend a wedding. The day of our stay, we came in early and went for a local bike ride, planning to check in and get ready for a wedding that afternoon. After our ride, I went to check directions to the place. Sometime in those few hours before our check in, I received a message from the host through vrbo saying they would not be able to host us that night. Seriously. Two hours before check in. Not even a phone call or text, just a random message. Oh, but they followed up saying they would provide our full refund. We scrambled to find a local hotel room; last room available, and needless to say we were going to be late for the wedding. Unbelievably un-professional of the host and I would hope your experience is better or that the host considers getting out of the rental business. I assume they expect a poor review based on this experience but guessing someone who handles a reservation the way they did just does not care about reviews. As far as the full refund, I have not seen that yet, nor sure how that happens, and can imagine it will be an ordeal.

Picturesque stay in Chester County
This place was so, so gorgeous! We wished we could have stayed much longer. The house was impeccably clean, the setting was stunning, and we really enjoyed the firepit and the hot tub. Katie and Nathan were so friendly and generous to let us use their grill as well as charcoal. We are genuinely looking forward to returning - can't recommend it enough!
