Excellent little spot in Mission Bay! Sali and Brendon were friendly and accommodating. The unit is clean, private, and has everything you need (fridge, oven/hob, washing machine, etc.) Plus being able to have our dog stay with us is always a bonus. 😊

Short stay in a spotless accommodation

An ideal location for our short trip. A bit of a tight squeeze for 3 adults but doable for a short break. Slightly too open plan wrt bathroom to bedroom to living area. That said it was very clean and the owner was extremely helpful, close at hand and generous. I’d recommend this as a good base in a pleasant suburb away from Auckland central - being about 15 minutes away by taxi.

Great location and wonderful hosts

My wife and I wanted a place to stay for two weeks which was nearby Meadowbank Retirement Village where my mother is now staying. We wanted somewhere where we could come and go as we liked, and where we could have breakfast and other meals in if we liked. The cottage fitted all our requirements and there were some nice bonuses with a shopping centre nearby and an easy walk down to Mission Bay for meals including Azabu and the Belgium Beer Cafe. Hosts Sali and Brendon were very friendly and helpful and they even invited us to watch the NZ v Argentina Rugby game on Sunday morning 9th July 2023 with them!

Not what we expected

Pros: great location, close to everything, 25 min walk to beach. Cons: very small. The overall footprint of the cottage was smaller than an average hotel room. Fenced backyard was unusable as it was a small putting green with artificial grass. We travelled with 2 dogs so we had to walk them out into the street for their business. Not really suitable accommodation if you bring pets.

Forest Retreat

This is a perfect small self-contained "sleep-out" with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It adjoins the pool and garden area of the main house but has plenty of privacy. We loved the peaceful outlook from the main room and bedroom - a curtain of native trees including an impressive kahikatea, as well as kanuka, pohutukawa and ti kouka. It felt like a forest retreat in a super handy location for accessing the eastern bays of Auckland.

Perfect little retreat

We stayed at Godden Cottage after flying into Auckland from Australia. It was the perfect little hideaway to rest and recuperate before heading off on the rest of our NZ adventure! We had everything we needed to spend the night in and we were super close to shops and Mission Bay.
