I was traveling for work alone, Two men followed me into the hotel, the receptionist gave them my name and called me to tell me they were looking for me. I asked her who they were and she didn't take their names. She said if i really wasn't expecting visitors I should call the police. I called the police and they escorted me out. the hotel still charged me for my stay. Horrible experience.

The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. Although besides this there was not much else to say good to say about the hotel. the rooms were very big, which would be great but these just felt almost empty and could use some more storage and table space. There was no breakfast the two mornings we were there as well. Also, there is no microwave or mini-fridge... of course these are not required but I had never been to a hotel that did not have at least a microwave in the room. The biggest problem that we had during our face came down to the water; I noticed it first after I washed my hands... the water made my hands feel slimy. I brushed this off to the hand soap that we had bought (because none was supplied), but it was when I washed my face later that day that I felt it again. I had used my face wash that I use daily, and that slimy texture was still there on my hands and face. I was reluctant to shower because of how gross it made me feel, but when I did the slimy feeling was still there. All three of us who stayed within that room experienced this odd slimy water. Although the price was great, I would not stay here again unless I knew for certain that the water did not have the slimy residue.

I didn't like the fact that our room didn't has any soap. we went to the lobby and the receptionist only gave us one bar because he didn't have more and we where 3 persons. But overall the room was nice and it was clean.

Bad area

Not the safests of locations. Many homeless nearby doing drugs. Witnessed a few making nature calls in broad daylight on the sidewalk. Not the view we were expecting.

Not bad for the price.

Service was Great!! You can tell this place has some age to it but the renovations done to it by the new owners was done rather well. Room had a slight odor to it but other than that it was a great stay. I will be booking again for my future stays. Decent price.

Central location to be able to explore the many areas surrounding Austin. Close to the highways so we could easily jump on and head to Barton Springs or Jacob's Well or Rainey Street. Breakfast was good in the morning!

First room smelled like smoke, second room had stains on bed, floor, and bathroom. Only stayed one night out of the two nights we paid for. Hallways had a smell of wet carpet.

Kids enjoyed seeing the pink sheep around the hotel. But we had problems with the shower tub not draining and we had an ant problem in the room as well.

Had to change date of accommodation from july 5th to july 6 called the hotel myself when i got there they had me down for two days your site was difficult to get to to change dates

Checked in on a Friday afternoon and hotel was weirdly empty. Only a couple cars in the whole parking lot. Staff was friendly. Was given room 115 right next to the exit door. Looked like door use to have some sort of card swipe access but was completely broken so door swung open every time. Room was ok. Found three bugs during my stay. Two dead next to the lamp right next to the bed. One crawling on the sink counter while I brushed my teeth. Very gross looking stain in the tub and bathroom floor. Fine for a one night stay but I wish I had paid a little more for a nicer place.

AMAZING for the price. Very centrally located to tons of restaurants, great bars and coffee shops, a very short drive from downtown/Sixth Street (about 10 minutes without traffic). Free parking. All you can eat breakfast tacos (HUGE variety), yogurt, fruit, and baked goods for breakfast every day. VERY friendly staff who are laid back and do everything they can to make your stay nice. Comfy beds!!! Great toiletries provided (shampoo/conditioner/lotion, a great bar of super-moisturizing bath and body works soap, a kit with Q-tips and cotton balls, and if you forgot anything like a razor they'll hook you up!) and very nice water pressure in the shower. Property is a bit run down (sloppy paint jobs, broken latch on the 'outside' door which doesn't really scream 'safety', etc) but overall this is a great bang for your buck and I stay here every time I'm in town. I love the Highlander and it's the best value hotel in Austin that I've found. Love the pink sheep, too, of course; it's so kitschy and fun!

The rooms it's very dirty like never wash the bed covers we found pubic hair in the bed and Doritos in one corner ,cockroaches and one old apple down the bed and needles in the parking lot next to the cars that rent them

Broke down palace

Exterior doors don’t lock. So, anyone can roam the interior halls. Worn down interiors: carpets stained, funky smells. The photos were probably taken soon after renovation, and no longer represent the current conditions. The price was good, but you get what you pay for.

Great Location & Eclectic Taste

Hotel was in a great location! You can tell they’re still updating areas of the hotel, but what’s been renovated is modern. The pink sheep added a nice fun touch! The bathroom was out of date (rusty old fixtures, etc.) but was extremely clean. Hotel staff was great. I would highly recommend. We will be staying here again!
