I cannot understand how the rating for this motel is higher than poor.Very misleading pictures,description and reviews.There was a bag of garbage thrown next to our entry.Very low bar met.Location and the view were great !!

When we arrived they had overbooked. They said they could give us a "dome" instead; not what we asked for but because they had us over a barrel late in the day we took it. Staff promised us a room at the inn the next day and yes, we got it. But the dome was a nightmare - no toilet in the room, had to walk across the campus and it was pouring rain. VERY Disappointed.

The only good thing to say was the beds were comfortable, the sheets were clean and we got clean towels when we asked for them. However, the room was dirty and needed a thorough scrub down, neither taps in the bathroom worked properly, poorly done repairs, and hairs in the fridge. We asked to have the room cleaned the first morning and it wasn't done "because we didn't leave the door unlocked" was the excuse we were given. The owner/operator said he would clean the room the next morning. However, when we came back all we had were fresh towels and one garbage can emptied. Upon check out I told the owner that the room was barely worth $100/night and not doing a decent clean was no way to run a business. Most definitely would not recommend. The first warning flag that it sucked was having to pay up front. Should have left at that point.

Our room was okay. The property is older but our room had what we needed ~ a clean bathroom and comfy bed, nothing special. Typical amenities for average cost. Tim Hortons is next door and not too far from town. I think the owner could use some help. The floor in our room could use a vacuum and washing so I kept my socks on.

Out over $400 on a management decision! We were travelling to Baddeck when a powerful storm hit the Maritimes on September 5th. The provincial government declared a local state of emergency in Victoria County (and a couple others) in which Baddeck is situated and people were advised to stay off the roads unless travel was for health, safety, or emergency purposes. The storm caused 120 road closures and 8 bridges were damaged with power outages for more than 40,000 people. In fact, one person unfortunately died. We called the hotel that afternoon from another community before crossing over to Cape Breton Island (which was out of power). We explained it was not safe to travel according to government officials and we would like to cancel our reservation due to the storm. We also asked that under the circumstances, we would like a refund. Baddeck Inn Management refused our request for a refund and in fact encouraged us to continue to travel to Baddeck despite government warnings. We tried to get a resolve through Expedia and were advised that if the hotel said no to the refund there was nothing they could do. Ultimately we are out over $400. Do not stay at the Baddeck Inn.

This place doesn’t look anything like the pictures. If you pull up a satellite photo of the property you will see garbage and construction debris in that Photo. It’s Still there. Attempted to cancel the reservation and Expedia Calle the property and asked them to cancel the reservations which they refused to do ( No surprise there) . Expedia then refused to cancel the reservations without photos of the trash.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We booked and paid for two rooms through Expedia, but when we arrived, we were told at reception that the rooms were not available. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of help from the person at reception. When I explained that we had already paid for two rooms, his response was essentially that Expedia had taken our money, not him, and that we would have to figure it out ourselves. He was very short and dismissive rather than trying to help resolve the situation. The property itself also left a very poor first impression. The reception area was dirty and had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, almost like an ashtray. The parking area is quite small, and there was construction material and debris scattered around the property near the motel and domes, making the entire place look unfinished and poorly maintained. We obviously never got to see or stay in the rooms, so I can't comment on their condition. However, based on the cleanliness of the reception area, the condition of the property, and the way the situation was handled, we did not feel comfortable staying there anyway. Overall, the experience was extremely unprofessional. If a confirmed reservation cannot be accommodated, I would at least expect an apology and some assistance finding a solution. Unfortunately, we received neither.

Innkeeper was friendly and helpful at check in. Motel is small and showing its age. Exterior entrance door featured a wood block addition apparently to repair a prior forced entry. The advertised lake view out of the back entry door is blocked by the owner’s expansion into large tent units. Staying here was okay but humbling.

Cleanliness should be improved a lot for both the room and the bathroom. The room was not vaccumed properly before we checked in as we could feel dirt in our feet while walking inside the room. The bath mat was very dirty as well, I decided to wear sandal while taking shower.
