  • This is the headstone of Banner Elk, North Carolina. This elk has been in the town forever, but this past year the elk has been refurbished and installed as the centerpiece of the town. This elk frames Appalachia in the sense of this small town pride in the mountains. In the background you can see the historic elementary school and rolling mountains and once again the North Carolina pride of the state flag surrounding this elk even though about 100ft to the right there is another flagpole with the same flags raised high and proud. It was an amazing stay. We enjoyed Whispering Pines so much. It was a great location and we walked to lunch and breakfast a number of times. It was clean and maintained. We loved to picnic on the back deck. Our 3 rd night the power went out all over town and a power surge blew out our TV Router. But Allison got the cable/ internet folks on it!! They came out and replaced it with a new one! . We would love to stay here again next winter 🥰🥰

This is a great townhouse right in the town of Banner Elk. Three large bedrooms with very comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen, two balconies to sit out on and enjoy your morning coffee and a fireplace. It has all the amenities one could ask for. We enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace after a day of skiing. We came for a quick ski trip and this is just a few minutes drive to sugar mountain. The hosts were great with communication and super nice and helpful. We had something come up the day we were to arrive that caused a delay, and they were very accommodating to shift the days to allow us to still stay the same amount of days. They also let us checkout a little later to make sure the roads were safe and free of ice.We will definitely loom to rent this place for our next trip to Banner Elk.

Overall the stay was very nice. The kitchen was great. Dining area was nice. The living room was very nice with a big fireplace and TV. Laundry room was very good. The owners left a very comprehensive guide to the home with all of the instructions for everything very well defined. The balconies had a good view of the mountains but also overlooked the back of a business and there was a good bit of road noise to overcome. The upper floor bedrooms were hard to keep comfortably cool. Probably better in winter.

This home is wonderful! A fast favorite! Close to everything, we were able to walk to restaurants and to LMC campus. The hosts were excellent communicators and gave us detailed information about the home and the area. The home is comfortable and has everything you could need. We had our dog and he loved the balconies. We took him on a long walk around the campus. We will always seek this home when visiting.

Concert at Beech

We had a girls trip to see a concert at Beech Mountain. Great walkable location to downtown Banner Elk. Easy 20-30 minute drive to lots of other locations. Super quick to Beech. House was very clean and spacious bedrooms. Nice balcony on the back for morning coffee.
