This was my fourth trip to Barcelona so I knew I wanted to stay in this vicinity as it’s familiar. The hotel overall is great value for money - my room was enormous, the rooftop lounge pool nice, a good brekkie, and again, central location. The key negative was arriving as a solo female late at night wasn’t ideal. Again, I know the area, it’s the gothic quarter so it’s ‘gritty’ and diverse people around. Any other time at night I didn’t feel unsafe walking about at 11pm. But after my flight was delayed and I got a taxi rather than the planned bus as I was arriving around 3am, it was not great to be about on your own with all your luggage. The taxi can’t drive down this lane, so drops you close, only about a 500m walk. It’s just not a great walk at that time of night as a woman alone, not helped by the hotel name being obscured and missable. That said, every other night I felt safe walking about, no problem. Yes the bathrooms are dated but that’s clearly seen in the booking photos. The ground floor did smell of damp quite a lot but when I was in my room, I didn’t notice it. The front desk team were helpful, although not so much the bar. Again, I did not pay for an expensive perfect hotel. I paid for a well priced, very well located one and this is definitely that. I would stay here again, it offers a lot for a good price. They also have other hotels close to this one, such as the Angel location, which would probably be better to arrive late at night for solo females.

Was in a safe area, as a solo female traveller, I felt comfortable walking around the area at night and within the hotel. Pool was a bit small but definitely a nice addition with the heatwave. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Reception staff was very pleasant. Breakfast had good variety. Conveniently located, close to Plaza Reial, and other attractions. Pool was disappointing. Anticipate taxi not being able to drop you off at the hotel door, depending on the hour.

Really late check in of 3 pm. We arrived around 9 am. Others arriving after us were given rooms before us. I asked if they do it in order of check-in or if there was a waitlist I was told it was random. Staff were rude and bossy.

We stayed in this hotel couple of times. Excellent location and service. This time we booked a room with terrace which was more expensive, but very nice and quiet with easy access to the pool.

This hotel is very conveniently located and surrounded by restaurants and shops. It is close to transportation. The breakfast is excellent! It is buffet style with a wide selection of options. The pool is refreshing in the summer heat. Bed was comfortable. Our room was clean. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the area and local transit.

Excellent séjour à l’hôtel Catalonia Avinyó, idéalement situé dans le quartier gothique de Barcelone. Emplacement parfait pour explorer la ville à pied, avec de nombreux restaurants et attractions à proximité. Le quartier gothique est très sécuritaire et propre : rues nettoyées presque tous les jours, personnel municipal présent. Nous craignions les pickpockets, mais n’avons rien constaté : vigilance recommandée, mais nous nous sommes sentis en sécurité. L’hôtel est moderne, avec piscine et terrasse sur le toit (pas eu le temps d’en profiter). Notre chambre supérieure double était spacieuse, très propre, bien insonorisée, avec lit confortable et canapé-lit. Climatisation efficace, salle de bain bien équipée, coffre-fort, sèche-cheveux, beaucoup de rangement. Accueil remarquable : deux membres du personnel parlaient français, enregistrement facile. Bagages gardés en sécurité à l’arrivée. Check-in officiel à 15h, mais chambre disponible dès 13 h30, très apprécié après un long vol. Hôtel très calme, même avec une chambre sur une ruelle latérale. Propreté irréprochable. Métro proche (station Liceu sur La Rambla, ligne L3), idéal pour visiter la ville et rejoindre la gare. Tout se fait facilement à pied. Nous recommandons cet hôtel pour un séjour à Barcelone.
