Smallest room in the lodge.
The room was not as we expected. You opened the door straight onto the double bed. There were just about enough room to walk round the bed. 2 kited steps up to the bathroom. No chairs in the bedroom as so small. No tea and coffee facilities in the room, you helped yourself from a cupboard in the reception area. The noise from the traffic was like being next to a motorway- even with the secondary glazing. We were booked for 3 nights - we stayed one and came home. On the plus side it was clean and well presented. The cooked breakfast was good.
I am autistic, and therefore read everything and anything about where I'm going before my stay to alleviate any anxiety. Unfortunately, some of the reviews I read were not great, so I started to panic about my choice of accommodation; those reviews couldn't be further from the truth!
The lodge is beautiful! The bathrooms are very tastefully done - modern without clashing with the traditional decor - and the four poster bed was such a lovely touch.
Our stay was mid-November, and it was very cold outside. Inside the room, however, we were lovely and warm. We couldn't hear the traffic (even when my partner was woken up by his cold, subsequently waking me up), and even as a fussy coeliac I was catered for at breakfast.
The staff were pleasant, and I don't understand why they've previously received negative reviews. They're not around in the evening, but that suited me and my partner. We don't like people fussing over us, we like to do our own thing in our own time, and this stay allowed just that. The honesty bar was a lovely touch, free hot drinks were available 24 hours, and although we didn't need it, we were allowed to use the lodge's crockery if we ordered a takeaway (as they don't serve dinner).
Though quite far from Bath city centre, getting there in an Uber was never a problem. We were there during the Christmas market, and it cost around £15 in and £25 out (we were warned of the additional cost before booking). I would highly recommend the lodge, and we'll be back.

Nice b and b.
Great bed. Good breakfast. Does what it says on the tin.
The castle makes for a different environment and is quaint and quirky.
The landlady will keep you in order.
Free tea and coffee on tap, 24/7 but go to the lobby to get it - mixed feelings.

Mouse Droppings
Hotel was stunning on the outside and the downstairs seemed cosy with an honesty bar, sofas, and a seating area in one of the turrets. There's also a coffee machine available for use.
The room was really cold when we arrived and took ages to heat up, this along with the traffic made it hard to sleep the first night. Although what made it even harder to sleep was the mouse droppings on the floor near the bathroom, in the wardrobe turret and worst of all on the bed. We didn't see or hear any mice but the evidence was clear they had been there. This was a real shame as the room instantly felt unclean despite the efforts that had obviously be made to clean it. The carpets looked brand new, the bathroom was clean and other than the mouse droppings the linens were immaculate. I can't imagine it is easy keeping mice out of such an old building, so perhaps it just comes with the territory.
This is certainly a 5 star property. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and the staff and owner couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating!
I would stay here again definitely. It was my grandkids favorite of our whole 2 1/2 week trip.

Beautiful exterior—gardens and castle. Friendly, helpful, courteous staff.
Room was over decorated and not really very traveler friendly—no convenient electrical plugs, no counter space in bathroom, small towel rack, etc.
Wunderschönes B&B mit besonderem Charme.
Tolles Zimmer, gutes Frühstück und ein schöner Garten/Terrasse zum Verweilen.
Gemütlicher Aufenthaltsraum und genügend Parkplätze.
Freundliche/hilfsbereite Gastgeber.
We had a family room consisting of one double and a room connected with 2 singles. Perfect for us and it was so very well presented and clean I was really impressed. Having travelled extensively internationally this was in my top 3. The staff were amazingly polite and helpful and when the electrician accidentally left the boiler off leaving us all no hot water for a few hours we were compensated with a bottle of wine! The breakfast was excellent and my wife said it was the most comfortable bed she had slept on in years. We will definitely return and I would recommend this superb place to anyone.
Staff was very friendly and helpful! Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms with great views of the castle and grounds. Convenient coffee, tea and cocoa in the lobby. Great selections for breakfast. Best to have a rental car if you stay here. Would highly recommend!!
Excellent. The service was great and friendly and the rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. The water pressure in the shower was quite low but otherwise everything was excellent.

Great place to stay feel like a king or queen
The rooms are beautifully decorated and the castle features are iconic. Very helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere. The shower pressure could be better and some of the other facilities were a bit run down such as spa and no dinning option.
Owner was very chatty and showed us through the other parts of the castle.
A nice little castle. Built 1806. The floors creak, no air conditioning, but that's what you expect. Only 11 rooms. Very peaceful. Need to have a car or hire car to get there. A great place to stay near historic Bath.
