We had two beautiful views- one of the sunrise over low hills and the other of the sunset over the water. Our room was elegant- our bed comfortable- the spacious bathroom had excellent water pressure. We wish we had been able to stay more then one night.

The place was nice and clean and the beach was just at the bottom of the hill …..just a short distance, but the sunsets were spectacular. I would definitely go back. Not much choice for restaurants near by, but Cheticamp was only 20 minutes away.

The ocean view was amazing. Sitting on the front deck watching the sunset over the ocean ticked an item off my vacation bucket list. Definitely would recommend it to friends….and have.

Beautiful location; however the property was a bit outdated, especially the furniture. The duvet on the bed had no cover and had noticeable yellow stains, which was disappointing. The place needs a little extra care, attention, cleaning, or updating to make it nicer. It would make the stay more comfortable.

A really nice place to stay within Cape Breton. The rooms were spacious included a separate living area with couch, table, dining space. Well maintained. Considering the remote nature of the location The staff were kind enough to provide free water bottles. The location is beautiful, truly feels like far away from the city life.

I don’t usually write reviews if my experience doesn’t exceed my expectation. And this stay was better than what I expected! The view from the room was dreamy and the furnitures were very well maintained. Got to take a much needed good night sleep on the comfy and clean king sized bed.

The receptionist, apparently the owner does not know the meaning of hospitality. He did k ow all about ignore ce and claimed he was the owner. Not at all the image of anyone I expected in cape breton

We had a 2 night stay at the Sunset Island Resort. It has great potential but requires some TLC. Views were spectacular. Rooms were clean. Felt room rates were a little high for what you got for a room.

For the price point of this so called resort, it was not a resort. There was rust on the doors and broken blinds. Place was clean and very dated. And sweltering hot when we arrived. The air conditioning didn't not work well enough to cool the bedroom down when there are heated floors throughout. Won't recommend.

We only stayed one night but we wished we stayed here at least two. It was a whole suite with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom. There is a nice porch with chairs to sit and enjoy the ocean and we loved the walk along the beach at sunset. FYI: It looks like there used to be a restaurant and spa which are not there anymore.

We stayed for two nights with two teens and two dogs. The property was conveniently located to explore the Cheticamp side of Cabot Trail. The views of the water were also beautiful. The downside was the lack of air conditioning, the many dead (and live insects in the bathroom) and the price, which was quite high for what you get - no restaurant on site, no daily housekeeping, the aforementioned insects and subpar cleanliness.

A lovely situation however the restaurant was not open which meant driving to Cheticamp or Inverness. On the second day the power was off and remained off all day. We travelled around the Cabot Trail in warm conditions only to find still no power with no assistance or suggestions from staff. Eventually power returned around 6 pm. Shame because the area is lovely but service was non existent.

We had a good one night stay. The beach and ocean being so close was the best part. We were disappointed that the restaurant on site was closed. The condo was clean and comfortable but I would suggest a new mattress in the John Cabot number 22. You kind of roll into the centre. Beautiful location!

Room was excellent however we did not have any hot water, nor did we have wifi ,the staff was not available, we called the office number provided with no answer. At 10PM someone entered our room startling us, our door was locked so this person entering had to have a key that worked for our room. Checking out the next morning there was no one at the office, I called the number, the person answering would not come to the desk he did not want to hear our concerns this was 10:30 in the morning, he just told me to "leave the key on the desk" and hung up!
