The Hotel from Shining (the 1980 Thriller)
The room was fine. But the corridor is what that scares me the most. Please take a few seconds to look at the pictures attached.
The corridor, with lights on, is decorated like a distressed East European 150 years old house, which already gave you a chill in the spine.
However, it was not the end. I lived at the end of the corridor. However, the lamps located in the corridor were not turned on 24/7. They were controlled by motion detectors, which were old and located in the centre of the corridor. Whenever I get out from my room, the detectors could not detect me, and the corridor was dark as in the picture attached. Especially, the corridor was not equipped with windows. All you left is that eccentric light coming from the emergency exit sign. It was completely traumatising.
Thus, I really got scared and checked out the next day.
Apart from the corridor, there was no hot water running in the hotel. Be prepared to shower in cold water to give you the complete 'chilly' experience.
Moreover, most of staff did not speak English. All of them were beyond rude, who would stare at you right in the eye when they see you without saying a word.
Furthermore, the Hotel shared backyard with adjoining residences. There would be creepy dudes staring at your window.
In addition, the hotel was so old that the floors could not block the noises coming from the floor above. Thus, you really cannot get some sleep there.
Believe me to save yourself the trauma.
