Poor checkin but good room

No reception service - no early or late check-in available-you are facing a machine that only works from 2pm while people start arriving and building a pool. That day I had no access to my card and used cash. The local tax could only be paid by card in order to retrieve the key. You can not explain to a machine you need to pay cash. I was lucky my friend could help me out. For few hours during breakfast service there is a reception. I had a late flight and would have paid for a late check out. Not possible. This is poor service!!! However the room is good. The shower lovely and the location close to the tube station. If you prepare for the machine checkin the rest is fine and the rooms good.

Very bad (digital) experience

Check-in user-experience for first-timers is terrible, at least when booking via a third party (like hotels.com). You get an email which asks for a travel ID for the self check-in. I had none as I booked via hotels.com, and I did not get the information that I can check-in directly in front of the hotel WITHOUT any travel ID, just my name. It took me a lot of time on the phone, hearing recorded informations (but not useful for my case) and trying to reach any human who told me I can check-in in front of the hotel. In the morning I got the information from a very uninterested hotel employee, that there is no breakfast, as nobody has pre-ordered one. So they do not open the kitchen for breakfast. The only positive experience: The room itself was ok (when you are happy to get there). Referring to the mk hotel homepage where they speak about a "modern service concept supported by passionate employees": Please use some professional support to design your (digital) customer communication and interface.

The room was modern and we'll maintained. The mattress was very comfortable. The check in process is kiosk driven in the afternoon which was seamless. I'm surprised the front desk is staffed in the morning vs afternoon as the check in process is more challenging than check out. Also would be great if the check in process was better explained upfront and in English for non Germans as all correspondence was in German.

Das Zimmer war sauber, alles wunderbar, das einchecken über den "Automat" war gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber eigentlich problemlos. Wider Erwarten war die Lage sehr ruhig. Vom Personal habe ich nur den Angestellten getroffen, der für das Frühstück und das auschecken zuständig war, der trat aber sehr zuvorkommend auf.

Was weniger gut war, da das Zimmer direkt an der Feuertreppe war, war das Lüften bei den sommerlichen Temperaturen nur mit Kippstellung des Fensters möglich, eine Klimaanlage gab es ja nicht. Es wurde direkt an der Feuertreppe geraucht und es ist für Nichtraucher echt eklig ständig den Rauchgeruch im Zimmer zu haben...
