Bijou house in a beautiful village

Fantastic stay in Beynac
This is just a lovely property! Such character! Beynac is a lovely picturesque town and conveniently located to lots of sites. Owner has left very detailed instructions and suggestions for things to do. Also the welcome basket was very much appreciated the first morning! Parking is just a few minutes walk, and was convenient. Small grocery store, bakery, butcher, and restaurants all withing walking distance. AC, washer/dryer, dishwasher all appreciated. We ate outside on the little front porch and enjoyed music from the neighboring restaurant. Also met owner walking by as we ate dinner! Property manager very helpful. All in all a lovely stay, and highly recommended.

Lovely stay in 500 yro house
The house is charming and surprisingly updated, with things such as a combo stovetop, oven and dishwasher. The village is really cute and is a perfect base to drive through Dordogne. Communication with the owners was very straightforward, and the check in process was relatively easy with their housekeeper (though she only speaks French, so be prepared for that). Although the house worked really well for us, and we would gladly stay there again, I would warn people that the walk up to the house is a little steep, and there are tight, spiral stairs in the house that would make it difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There is a lovely outside area that would be perfect for sitting out and watching people go by, when the weather is nice. For us, though, the weather was rainy and cool, so after a day of touring around, we loved coming back to such a cozy house with a comfy living room. Would gladly recommend this to anyone who does not have mobility issues.

Charming!
We loved our wonderful stay in Beynac at La Petite Maison! Both the village and the house (and the whole area!) were utterly charming! And we appreciated the most generous welcome basket we have ever seen! We arrived quite late, and everything was closed, so we devoured a lot of it as our dinner. The whole area around Beynac is filled with gorgeous scenery, medieval castles and villages, gardens and stunning views of the Dordogne River. The cobblestone path to the Beynac Castle is a steep uphill climb, but worth it! The house itself also requires steep climbing up narrow steps from the living area to the bedrooms…also worth it! We enjoyed many meals on the terrace, and we could see the envy in the eyes of people walking by us! This was the first time that we ever saw a stove, oven and DISHWASHER all in one! The oven and dishwasher are half-sized, but they worked fine for us. Staying in this medieval home was just great!

Adorable Favorite Cottage
La Petite Maison My favorite stay in the south of France. What a charming cottage in a quaint village. Everything as pictured & more. It’s a fairytale cottage to stay in. Perfect location. Everything you need with beautiful furniture, fabulous kitchen. Beds so comfy & beautiful. Love the windows especially the one in the kitchen that opens to the private patio. Highlight to sit on the patio eat & enjoy the visitors passing by to & from the Castle. Everyone loves the corner cottage. The town is so beautiful & welcoming with lots to explore. We enjoyed everything about Beynac. The castle is fabulous & the journey along the way with shops & restaurants. We took a canoe down the river my first & so fun. Next time I’ll bring a picnic as you can stop along the way. Vincent is excellent in communication super nice & helpful. With an amazing welcoming basket from the local market. All information about the stay in the cottage is emailed & manual that is very detailed & so helpful. Martine the housekeeper beyond Superb. Sweet warm hearted & thoughtful. We saw her many times during our stay. Always with a smile & hard working that girl. Christoph Taxi service recommend by Vincent the best ever taxi service I’ve e had. I highly recommend he is quick to respond, super friendly, kind heart & welcoming. He has many suggestions & covers a large area also with tours. If not available he has many other referrals. But you’ll want him first if available every time. Eric & family at the local market is another gem. I didn’t want to leave I loved it here so much. Hope to make this my Summer vaca every year. Vive La Petite Maison!
La Petite Maison is a unique stone home nestled in a medieval village. The home is well maintained and contains gorgeous furniture, modern amenities, and is conveniently located to bistros, restaurants and grocery stores. After a day spent walking on cobblestone pathways, relax on a small, pleasant terrace and sip a glass of local wine. Experiment with speaking French. The French are very friendly and helpful. Lastly, enjoy! This place is great!

Perfect, cozy home in a charming little village
The village is quaint and the people were all very sweet. The house was perfect. Vincent was kind enough to equip us with some firewood as it is quite chilly in December. Sarlat was an easy drive away and had a beautiful little Christmas market. We loved our stay in Beynac-et-Cazenac and if we return to this area again, we will definitely stay in Vincent's home. Charming Village
We very much enjoyed our time at La Petite Maison. It's a super nice house in the center of the village. Clean, comfortable, and relaxing. We especially enjoyed the warm fireplace in the evenings. Great location and property!
This is a really incredible property. We enjoyed the modern amenities inside (nice kitchen, cooking appliances, dishwasher, fireplace, showers, bathrooms, internet, etc). The walk up to the castle is steep and short. Everything was great. Martine checked in on us each day to see if we had everything as well as met us to explain (in French) the property. I speak some French so I got the gist of what was needed. The only thing is we had a little difficulty with was finding firewood; we ended up getting some during our day trip to Sarlat though. Thanks for letting us stay!

Enjoyable Two-Week Stay
We feel very lucky to have found this property as it was the ideal home base for our exploration of this area of France. The town itself is full of history with many breathtaking views and excellent restaurants (we followed up on the owners detailed recommendations for dining and were never disappointed) , and very central for driving about in other areas. The house itself has all the modern conveniences carefully appointed to remain in keeping with its historic nature. Loved the beams in the ceilings and the stone walls. As it was just two of us staying, we didn't need to use the upstairs bedroom (and it was also quite hot up there due to the heat wave the area was experiencing). But we lived fully on the main floor and downstairs bedroom/bath very comfortably. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We especially enjoyed the peace of the village in the morning with all the windows open, walks on the river at that time, and coming back with a croissant or two. We also had no trouble at all cooking in when we wanted to cut back on dining out. All of the detailed suggestions left for renters were fabulous (outdoor markets are a must!) and our only regret is that we didn't get to do everything on the list! Become part of the Medieval Dordogne valley
This gem in the lovely, medieval town of Beynac-et-Cazenac was exactly what we were looking for during our time in the Dordogne. We visited with a 10-month-old and a 3-year-old and four adults. It looks just like the pictures! Everything in this town looks medieval, so it was so perfect to stay in this stone house along the steep, winding cobbled road up to the castle (which was an awesome castle and stays open until 7pm). The house is three floors with the entrance on the middle floor (opening onto the upper street on the right side of the house in the picture). Each flight of stairs had a gate or a door at the top to keep the kids from taking a tumble. The house is carefully maintained and well furnished with a bathroom included in each bedroom (no door separating bathroom from bedroom). It was very clean and inviting with a welcome basket including milk and fresh strawberries, cereal, coffee and cookies, and more. The full kitchen was equipped with dishes and coffee maker and more – everything we needed to do breakfasts at home. Although the bakery just around the corner was too tempting with its chocolate croissants every morning! Check-in with English-speaking Andrea, was very easy. She showed us around, gave us the keys and was easily accessible by texting while we were there. Parking was in the small main city lot right by the river, about a minute or two away by foot. It definitely filled up during the day but we could always find parking in the evenings. There are more lots farther away as well. We did have to pay for parking some days but it wasn't too expensive. La Petite Maison was an excellent location from which to see the Dordogne River Valley. We walked to Castelenaud (3 miles away) which has an amazing medieval weapons collection. We visited Sarlat, Roque St. Christof, the gardens at Marquesyssac and drove through Le Roque Gageac. Traffic was not bad in early May when we were there. Too much to see! We will have to return to La Petite Maison. Definitely our favorite stay on this trip.

Best wine region
We totally enjoyed our stay in Beynac. The restaurants were wonderful. The views amazing. So many things to see wandering about. Lots to do in the area. Balloon rides, canoeing, exploring the castles, side streets. The market was so quaint. (Totally disappoint that it was only there once a week. I really wanted to buy more local wine). People were so friendly throughout the Village. The bakery amazing. Weather was beautiful. I love Beynac-et-Cazenac. The only thing I’d change is that spoiled as we are in North America, I would have killed for a king size bed.

Small piece of paradise
We had the most warming welcome from Martine (who only speaks French) and felt really at home . La Petit Maison is equipped to a tee, beautiful furniture, and a patio to die for. We had many a late dinner out on this little patio. The house is ideally situated in Beynac so that you can explored all the beautiful surrounding villages with ease. Wonderful forests to hike in.

Beynac et Cazenac a été le plus joli petit village de la région. Très mystérieux le matin quand il était encore enveloppé par le brouillard. Majestueux et humble au même temps. La maisonnette a joué un rôle fondamental pour avoir l’experience de nos ancêtres. Très jolie, très confortable et très intégrée au village. Mais... tout ça aurait été une semaine de vacances avec de belles découvertes comme tant d’autres si Martine n’aurait pas été là!! Elle est tellement gentille et amicale qu’on dirait une fée échappée d’un des châteaux fort de la région. Martine nous a montré ce que c’est être heureux/heureuse. Merci Martine...tu es inoubliable. In summary, la petite maison is all one would dream of in a vacation home for 4 people. It is well appointed and all details have been tended to. The washer and dryer are particularly impressive. I can not recommend this vacation home enough.

It couldn't possibly be any better!
Staying here is like staying in a dream. Everything you need is here and the cottage and the town are charming and welcoming. You can eat out or cook in. You can wander the town or hunker down and read a book or travel to the nearby historic and natural sites (and there are many). You can photo bomb the dozens of people passing by and taking photos of where you are staying (not that I did or that I would, but it was so funny to look out the window and see people looking back). Both my husband and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Vincent, Sarissa and Martine all make the stay easy with their help and advice and the basket of goodies to get you started. We loved shopping for ingredients for our Christmas dinner at the little local shops at the bottom of the hill (including an excellently tasty chicken complete with head and a Buche de Noel cake and the requisite champagne). Add some pate from a local farm and it is an unforgettable experience in an unforgettable place. We also loved trying the local delicacies at the nearby restaurants and those further away. Even in December many places were open and everyone was so patient with our attempts to speak French. Thank you, Vincent, for sharing your treasure with us. We hope to return someday and we hope you will allow us to stay again.

Lovely cottage in the heart of the Dordogne
We enjoyed a delightful stay in this cottage in Beynac. It was a perfect location for exploring the Dordogne region. The kitchen was well-appointed with all that we needed to cook wonderful meals. The wood burning stove was a charming respite at the end of a day of exploring. The owner was responsive and his agent and housekeeper were both prompt, amiable and available for any assistance we may have needed. The cottage is spacious, consisting of 3 floors, one bedroom with en suite bath on the 3rd floor, another on the ground floor with the kitchen and living area in between, making the layout perfect for 2 friends, 2 couples or a larger family. Sipping wine on the small terrace (shown in the picture with the flowers in the pot) made us feel like we were special parts of the Beynac scene.

A Fabulous Cottage
My sister and I spent almost two weeks at La Petite Maison in early October and totally loved it. We arrived later than expected, but the marvelous Martine met us and showed us around, and even with our almost nonexistent french she managed to give us the full lowdown. The cottage is beautiful inside and out. It was immaculate (also thanks to Martine), and the furnishings are beautiful, but comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked and there was a welcome basket waiting for us that included coffee, milk, granola,and other goodies. There was also a really useful information book that gave us valuable house and local information. The village location is perfect for touring the chateaus and caves and village markets in the area. The countryside in the Perigord is absolutely beautiful and staying in La Petite Maison enabled us to enjoy it at our leisure then come back and relax on the patio with a glass of wine. Even the weather was perfect for our stay! Vincent was a great host - responsive and really cooperative in planning our stay. All in all, we loved our whole experience and would come again in a heartbeat. Only two caveats - The stairs to bedrooms/bathrooms are steep. I took them slowly and I was fine, but just be aware. The wifi wasn't the best. We didn't follow-up on it, because we didn't really care, so it could probably be improved. We just felt that a couple weeks away from the news was a real vacation!

Our Excellent Second Visit
In March of 2013 we spent two weeks at La Petite Maison so were pleased to find LPM still charming on the outside and very comfortable on the inside with all the mod-cons. It was always a pleasure after a full day of visiting the many churches, chateaus and castles in the area to return to LPM and relax. Beynac is a small but well serviced village. The daily walk to the bakery with views over the Dordogne river valley was always a wonderful way to greet the day. The Knick/knack store beside the pharmacy has an excellent collection of wine of the region. Eric's grocery store is handy for things you might have missed at the Sunday St Cyprien market. La Petite Tonnelle restaurant at the end of the street has an excellent chef and friendly staff. Vincent and Michelle have made LPM a home away from home for their guests. An added bonus is the wonderful Martine, who is the housekeeper. This area of France is dotted with rolling hills, farm land, small villages which makes it the ideal place to spend a relaxing holiday.

Superbly furnished property in a fabulous French village
We were delighted with our stay at La Petite Maison in Beynac. The owners had anticipated our every need and then some! The kitchen was fully equipped ... even three whisks, a choice of corkscrews and a full range of knives. Books and videos for information and entertainment. Two very spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. And the village! Everyone was so friendly! We had some really fun pronunciation lessons at dinner one night. The Tourisme Info staff were well informed and helpful. And Martine, our host's representative was charming and fun! Beynac is in the middle of a rich and vibrant area. Recreation, culture, food, outdoors, history! It's all there. Float down the Dordogne River, visit the cave paintings, eat foie gras. Live the good life in Beynac.

Absolutely perfect! Everyone associated with our rental was outstanding. Just loved it!!!!!
This was a dream!!!!!! Beynac is one of the most beautiful places in the world. So relaxing and so, so charming. We laid around a lot as we were with our daughter who has a demanding job, but the day trips, canoeing etc could keep you busy every day. Our Maison was spotlessly clean, perfect in every way. Fairy tale house
From the moment we entered La Petite Maison, we were in awe of the charm and touches throughout. We spent four weeks in the Dordogne region of France where we submerged ourselves in the local cuisine and culture. Each day my husband and I would head out for a new adventure and after hours of visiting a nearby castle, cave or town we were always glad to come back to our little house where we could throw open the windows and listen to the people passing by or sit out on the patio and chat with those walking up to the Beynac castle. Everything about our stay was delightful and Vincent provided us with specific recommendation and instruction for the house and area. This was very much appreciated. Martine is a delight and I enjoyed many conversations with her.

A Charming House in a Beautiful Village
Our second stay at La Petite Maison was as wonderful as our first. The house is perfectly situated, easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, the chateau and the river. It is nicely decorated and well maintained, and the multi story layout of the house allowed plenty of privacy for the two couples along with a comfortable living and dining area. We have often found historic European properties to be strong on charm but low in functionality—La Petite Maison has plenty of both. The bathrooms and showers were great, and the washer/ dryer actually got our clothes clean and dry without taking all day. The welcome basket was a nice amenity, and having La Petite Tournelle, a very good restaurant run by friendly proprietors, practically outside our doorstep was wonderful. We had dinner there thee evenings and it was excellent each time. Beynac is a perfect base for exploring the Dordogne—we enjoyed walking in neighboring villages, canoeing on the river and visiting the market in St. Cyprien. Vincent was very responsive and provided us with a wealth of information to help us prepare for and make the most of our stay. We look forward to returning for another stay soon.

Ein gut restauriertes mittelalterliches Haus, mit gut sortierter Küchenausstattung und gemütlichem Wohnbereich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. In kurzer Entfernung gibt es viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, allerdings haben wir erfahren müssen, dass viele davon in den Wintermonaten geschlossen sind. So hatte ab dem Jahreswechsel kaum ein Lokal geöffnet, die meisten Grotten und Burgen waren geschlossen. Es empfiehlt sich deshalb, diese Gegend erst ab April bzw. nach Ostern zu besuchen. Der Besuch der Märkte in Sarlat und St. Cyprien ist ein Muss, Gänsestopfleber, Kastanien- und Walnussspezialitäten, Trüffel und Wein und vieles mehr gehören zu den Besonderheiten der aquitanischen Küche. Vincent hat uns im Vorfeld mit allen notwendigen Infos versorgt, und die gute Seele Martine vor Ort hat sich vergewissert, dass alles nach Wunsch lief.

Great Location, Great Rental Property
The owner, Vincent was more than accommodating and helpful even before we left on our month long trip. Our week in La Petite Maison was made that much more enjoyable by the extensive information we received a few weeks before we left. I wish other rental property owners would be so thoughtful. This property is small (it's a petite maison) but is located on a narrow walkway that leads to the Beynac Chateau and if you sit out on the patio (small but all you need. accessed through the low-silled kitchen window), you will have the opportunity to interact with many people heading up the challenging trip to the Chateau. If you have a baguette, fromage and vin on the table as we did every evening, they will almost always wish you "Non appétit! We were also lucky to have 2 hot air balloons pass over the patio at alarming low altitudes, a bonus. Martine is a hoot. Her effervescence overcomes her lack of English and you will run into her almost every day somewhere in the village. Book early to get this prize for your vacation.
