The cabin was clean and quaint and cozy, set out in the country. We enjoyed the peace and quiet after touring all day. The road to get there, 535, was full of pot holes that we had to carefully avoid. However, on the 2nd to last day of our trip they regraded 90% of the road which made it a lot better. The beds were very comfortable. The host was kind and communicative making everything easy before we got there. We really enjoyed our stay!
We had a lovely, unique stay in that remote cottage. We loved the quietness, coziness and the big sky. Really enjoyed the mountain and sheep in the background.
Did I mention we were fortunate to wath the northern lights for hours?
I loved the place. The only possible critisism was the beds were a little hard. The cabin is so cute and I chose it because of it's remoteness and it was very remote. I think Icelanders need to get some type of grip on the bug situation all around. I could not sit out on the deck or open windows here or in Selfoss and neither cabin had screens on the windows. Those bugs are brutal. We got spray and had to coat ourselves to sit on the porch. Otherwise it was wonderful. Fridge very small for a place that can sleep 6.
Description, detailed instructions, and communication was great. Very quick response. Wonderful location. Gravel road is a bit exhausting with the smallest/cheapest rental car, but with a decent vehicle, you won't even think about it. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, and nice place to stay, this is the one. Would definitely come back!
We enjoyed our stay, although during winter time I can see how it may not be for everyone. It is very remote, and it is about a 15 minute drive along a graded road, although that's not uncommon for rural Iceland. Our host was very quick to reply with any questions we had, which was helpful since we couldn't find our directions to the cabin. The space itself was clean, and the beds were comfortable. For as many windows as the place has, it does stay very warm at night. The nearest town is about 25 minutes away and does have a few restaurants, plus a market if you want to take advantage of the full kitchen back at the cabin. The driveway is on a slope, so it can get very icy and slippery in the cold. All in all, we thought it was a great value, well located for what we were doing, and we would gladly stay there again.
