Upon arrival we immediately noticed a strong offensive odor similar to cat urine or mold. The kids swam while we cleaned the bathrooms where it was strongest. We opened windows in the adjoining bedroom, kitchen, sliding door and turned on all the fans in the house and left for a bit. Within an hour being back, I (5mths pregnant), my husband, & 3 kids 5/3/2 had immediate severe respiratory responses to being in this house . Watery eyes, coughing, sneezing, wheezing. Anchor Down was contacted that night & again at 9am after a night of all of us sleeping on the “theater” room couch with a box fan blowing air back into the house & all windows open, a huge safety concern with 3 small kids. Upon inspection, I was condescendingly told that the house smelled clean & of diffusers (only in bathrooms to mask the smell) and that I was probably more sensitive to smell being pregnant...which doesn’t explain my kids or husband reacting with no respiratory history. The smell was noticeable even walking back in from bringing our stuff to the car. I was afraid whatever the smell or substance was would get in/on our belongings so we never brought our stuff past the livingroom and kept what we could in the car. We left after less than 24hrs despite having 4 nights booked & were told it would not be refunded due to their policy & the homeowners. We are out a lot of money but refused to risk our children’s health, something Anchor Down doesn’t seem to be too concerned with.Avoid this house & AD!
