The kitchen diner is fresh and bright with everything you need to cook up a storm and eat at the dining table, while peaceful blue and white tones in the lounge beckon you to curl up with your favourite book on the sofa or chairs with the wood burner crackling away in the corner. Take a stroll around Marwood Hill Gardens, home to four National Plant Heritage collections, or spend the day playing games and exploring the rock pools at Woolacombe Beach (both 6 miles). You’ll see views of the lighthouse on Lundy from here; if you fancy visiting this peaceful, wildlife-rich island, book a boat trip from Ilfracombe Harbour (9 miles); you’ll also see Damien Hirst’s sculpture Verity here. In the summer holidays, take a tractor ride from Mortehoe Museum (7.5 miles) where you’ll find fascinating displays about local shipwrecks, North Devon’s flora and fauna and the development of tourism and farming in the area.
