Amazing views!

House needs some TLC & a good ‘spring clean’. However, was comfortable, well equipped and the view from the back deck was incredible! Watched whales passing through daily.

Great location. Kitchen cooker didn't work properly. Toaster didn't work properly. Kitchen tap didn't work properly. Cutlery drawers didn't work properly.Sleeps 6, only 5 seats in the lounge.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Enjoyed the spectacular ocean views from a wide deck in a treetop setting. Did not enjoy the unclean interior.Although this is an affordable dog-friendly property, you still expect a basic level of cleanliness.The agents were very responsive in organising a spot clean to remove some of the mould.However, the house still needs a longer, really intense deep clean and cockroach treatment before I would recommend it to anyone else.We ended up cleaning the deep layers of dust underneath the bed ourselves, scrubbed the main bedroom doors and furniture in this room.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This has the making of being a spectacular holiday location. If only the owners of the property would spend a few dollars maintaining, cleaning and upgrading it. almost everything about this property is in disrepair. Really glad we took our own gas cookers as the stove can't regulate heat and the BBQ was just gross. You are also sharing the property with cockroaches and spiders. The view is amazing and Point Lookout is beautiful.

Lovely stay at Eyrie on Straddie

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Eyrie is in a great position with wonderful view of the ocean and the passing Humpback Whales from the large back deck. (Take binoculars though) Grandson with his new binocs said "I can see him waving his arms!!" The place is quite old but functional with lots of kitchen utensils and staples for use. It could do with a handyman to fix a bunch of stuff that did not really impact our stay except when the lights went out during and after a heavy rainfall. Rear steps can be a bit slippery as and slip is too worn. Also the second and third bedroom were lacking usable storage and under the beds was needing a better clean and the twin third had no bedside lamps. The rest of the house was spotless. The Agent was very responsive to our complaints. It is close to everything and the younger ones walked to the beach and pub etc. We would be very happy to stay again with a group at this price. Thanks

The property was well stocked with sufficient plates and crockery, furniture both indoor and outdoor and loads of books and games available. The general cleanliness was of a low standard. There were cobwebs and spiders in the bedrooms, rubbish still in the bins, dishwasher full and the vacuum was filled with dirty and hair.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family have taken a winter holiday at Straddie for many years and we have stayed at Eyrie for the last three. There are many styles of holiday rental to chose from and this one meets the needs of our family (including 2 primary school aged kids and a cat!) perfectly. Eyrie is affordable, well located, very comfortable and comes with a gorgeous ocean view from the sunny rear deck! The water pressure is notably fabulous - the best hot shower I've ever had. It was a little colder overnight this year (we do bring a heater) and there are plenty of warm blankets in the cupboard. The owners have upgraded some furniture recently and Eyrie is clean and well presented.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family had the most wonderful stay at Eyrie. It's in a great location at Point Lookout, close to everything you want or need. It is thoughtfully stocked with everything you'll need for a great holiday stay, and has the most gorgeous view looking north, out over the water, and gets a wonderful breeze most, if not all the time! They've really thought of everything - the house is stocked with pantry essentials to get you started, as well as loads of interesting books and games. There's also a hose downstairs to hose off after trips to the beach (it'd be nice if the little shower was working, but that was a tiny thing). Eyrie is the kind of place where you can fully relax and you never want to leave! We booked because we've stayed there before and it's pet friendly but unfortunately our little and old doggie passed away this year. It's still worth staying here though. We thoroughly recommend Eyrie and look forward to staying there again!

I booked this house for the deck and view and it 100% delivered on it. Whale spotting while having breakfast or lunch was great. The living room was comfortable with updated sofas not as pictured. The house is one of the more affordable options on the island so keeping that in mind, you get what you pay for. It desperately needs a spring clean and some updating. I’m guessing it’s been used as a holiday rental for many years and it shows. It’s dog friendly which is great but we found dog hair on the bedding which is not ideal. The curtains has a smell to them as well. The closets with extra pillows/blankets are musty and have mold on them. With a bit of attention it could be great. We spend little time in the house when over at Straddie so it worked for us but something to keep in mind. Would I book again, probably not, although the view is wonderful and the value is there.

We had great ocean views to watch the whales. The house was clean and well stocked. The walk to the dog beach is great exercise (the hill coming back is a doozy). The verandah is gated but Unfortunately there is no fenced yard as stated in the listing so that’s a bit of a problem as we had to keep taking the dogs out when they needed to go to the toilet - no big deal during the day but freezing at 3am!The staff at Ray White were efficient and easy to deal with. I would recommend this house.
