  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. A delightful, charming B&B

Ginette made us feel very welcome from the first minute we arrived. Her B&B is delightful, our room was clean, comfortable and full of character. A lovely touch is the little bottle of port refilled every day. The breakfasts Ginette prepares with such care and imagination are amazing...generous and delicious. The perfect start to the day. The location is about a 20 minute brisk walk to the tourist centre of Bruges, but the walk is interesting and goes past an excellent restaurant, Du Phare, lively, friendly and great food. We would highly recommend De Vijf Zuillen for an excellent accommodation in Bruges. Thank you Ginette.

Tout était parfait! La chambre répondait à nos attentes, le petit déjeuner très copieux et succulent. Pour ce qui est de la situation, une vingtaine de minutes à pied de la grand place de Bruges. Nous étions vraiment ravis. Et Ginette, la propriétaire est adorable !

Liebevolle Inhaberin mit romantischer Einrichtung. Man hat sich fast wie zu Hause gefühlt. Viele Insider Tipps zum Besichtigen und definitiv das beste Frühstück, dass man sich vorstellen kann. Und das nur 2 Minuten zu Fuß bis zu einer gratis Shuttlebus-Haltestelle. Sehr weiterzuempfehlen!

Melhor hotel da viagem

Lindo Hotel, uma casa cheia de detalhes por dentro e por fora. A proprietária Ginette te recebe com muita educação, carinho e simpatia. De cara se percebe que ela ama o que faz. Tudo ótimo, quarto grande, banho quente, roupa de cama e banho excelentes. O café da manhã é um show a parte, servido com hora marcada pela Ginette, com delícias preparadas na hora. Baita lugar pra casais que queiram um lugar romântico. Voltaria com toda a certeza. Recomendo a todos a se hospedarem mais de 1 dia.

Hartelijk ontvangst bij aankomst, goede uitleg gekregen waar heen te gaan in Brugge. Gezellig en meer dan goed ontbijt, zo ruim voldoende dat we nog een doggybag meekregen voor de lunch met wat we niet opkregen. Ook het vervoer van de B&B naar het centrum van Brugge was goed geregeld.

Nice place to stay in Brugge in the weekend

Our stay was fine and the owner from de B&B was so kindly to pick us up at Centraal Station. Good breakfast. I recommend it!!!
