  • The Reading Room is a cosy retreat in the village of Fulbrook near Burford, the village overlooks the Windrush Valley and is a stone's throw from Burford with shops, cafes, deli's and restaurants. This delightful luxury self-catering accommodation in the Cotswolds has a bright open plan living space with woodburner. Enter the property into the kitchen then walk through into the sitting room with comfortable seating, table and chairs for dining and their is access to the garden. An idyllic bolthole to explore the Cotswold attractions and fully unwind and relax.

Short Break in the Cotswolds

Excellent location, for visiting and exploring the Cotswolds. Off road parking was a bonus. Quiet location, even though the Reading Room is next to a main road. Would certainly book again, next time we visit the Cotswolds.

Perfection

I think the title says it all. The Cottage is perfect, impeccably furnished, with the availability of all the comforts. The area is very central and allows you to visit all the main places of the Cotswolds. Me, my wife and my little girl spent 5 wonderful days, also thanks to the availability and kindness of the owners Jane and Bob who were present right away and did everything to make us feel at home and to give us advice on what to visit during the day... imagine that the little girl did not want to go back to Italy, she would have preferred to stay with Jane!! We will definitely come back... we haven't had such a pleasant and relaxing holiday in years!! THANK YOU!!!

Beautiful cottage in a great location.

The most beautiful Cottage in a great location. We loved our break at the Reading Room The cottage is tastefully decorated and so quiet and peaceful. Spotless accommodation and the decor is fresh and yet so cosy. Just a ten minute walk into Burford with it’s charming restaurants and cafes. So much history to discover and loved visiting the small villages nearby and the walks through the fields. The perfect cottage winter or summer, highly recommend as the owners have put a lot of thought into making this cottage the perfect home from home.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location

We stayed here as two adults and a 10 month old. Perfect size of home and the hosts couldn't have been friendlier. The house was spotless and the furnishings in top condition. We will certainly come back.

Very well-equipped and attractive property in beautiful location.

Excellent. Good to have a bath rather than just a shower, and the pub just down the road was exceptionally good. Would book again.

Excellent location - nearly perfect

Cottage is in a great location and had all the amenities you could ask for. However it was starting to look a little tired and could do with a lick of paint in places. The cottage was value for money but this was due to its location.

Good enclosed garden

The enclosed garden was a real asset. The cottage was sparkling clean and tastefully decorated. Being of a certain age it would have been beneficial to have a slip proof mat for the bath.

Ideal position

Ideal position just a short walk into Burford and 100 yards from a very good pub. Beds are super comfy and the whole feel of the cottage is cosy. The accommodation is well equipped and clean. It is a great base for exploring this part of the Cotswolds with some great walks, spectacular villages and Blenheim Palace all within a short drive.

Delightful comfortable bolt hole with good access to amenities.

We very much enjoyed our short stay at The Reading Room. It has been carefully renovated by Bob and Jane who made assiduous efforts to ensure we were comfortable. The cottage is one of the better equipped self catering cottages we have stayed in. On the edge of Burford it has great access to the town's amenities via a 5 minute walk but without the crush of visitors.

Relaxing and comfortable base for exploring

Thank you so much for sharing your delightful Reading Room with us. Comfortable beds, dark bedroom curtains, and all the amenities we needed with a short walk into Burford and access to lovely hiking trails. We really enjoyed your various recommendations including Blenheim Palace, dinner at the Lamb Inn in Shipton-u-Wychwood, and most of all the short walks to lunch at the Carpenter’s Arms.

Lovely property. Enjoyable stay.

This lovely 2 bed cottage in Fulbrook just outside Burford was charming and relaxing. The owner had pretty much thought of everything in terms of equipment to facilitate a comfortable stay. Great bed. Lovely log burner in the lounge with provision of kindling, logs and fire starters. On site parking for our vehicle. Only slight niggle was my personal dislike of ‘shower over the bath’ and shower curtains generally but that’s just me. The power of the shower was perfectly adequate. So If you’re looking for a home from home, then I would definitely recommend the cosy calm of the Reading Room. Also, customer service was brilliant….on returning home I found I had left something in the cottage. My husband phoned the owner and she straightaway offered to send it on at no cost. Very grateful!

Fabulous cottage, great location

Cottage is beautifully furnished and very well equipped. We appreciated the provision of basics (tea, coffee, condiments etc). Disappointed to find no starter pint of milk or any other 'welcome' items. Hosts, Bob & Jane, were very helpful and responsive. The cottage does back onto a main road so if road noise is an issue then this isn't the cottage for you. Easy walk into Burford. We would stay again. StayCotswold was excellent re communication and ease of booking.

Happy holiday

Great location 2 minutes walk to a great pub which does good value food. 15 minutes walk into Burford which great shopping and cafes. The Reading Room is super comfortable, nicely decorated and is very well equipped. The owners are across the courtyard and checked on us once to introduce them selves. Off road designated parking spot which was ample for our large car. There are some great circular walks from the property. Many interesting places to visit within 10-20 min drive including Clarkson’s Farm Shop and Pub.

Excellent Cotswolds Base

We stayed in the Reading Rooms for 4 days in mid-May. We found this Cotswold cottage provided an excellent base and an ideal location for exploring and visiting well known places of interest in the area. The Reading Rooms offered a very high standard of accommodation with every convenience and amenity in situ including on site parking. We met the cottage owner Bob who was very genial and provided us with much useful local information including a recommended visit to the nearby Burford Garden Centre Company which we did visit and found to be the largest Garden emporium we had ever visited. We throughly enjoyed our stay at this charming Cotswold cottage, situated just to the North of Burford, and would not hesitate in making a return visit.

Pleasant week

Very clean. Great location. Comfortable seating ,nice secluded garden Bath shower not easy to get out of if any mobility issues , could do with anti slip mat and holding rail. Crockery kept in living room at a low level. . Again not great for older guests. First time ever been to a quality cottage and had no welcome pack Great week sunshine easy walk into Burford. On busy days a bottleneck at lights to get onto bridge into town which can cause big delays even if going north away from town

Perfect cottage retreat

The Reading Room provides a luxury comfortable base for exploring the Cotswolds . We were blessed with amazing sunny weather for the time of year so enjoyed the lovely garden .. there is a little traffic noise at peak times but that didn’t ruin the experience. The kitchen is well equipped with appliances , full size dishwasher, washer /dryer, separate fridge & freezer & microwave, not much cupboard space left for any food except the fridge & also crockery & glasses & some of the cutlery are in the lounge sideboard which is fine but takes some remembering where things are . Welcome pack was 4 water bottles in the fridge & then in the cupboard plenty of lovely branded tea , olive & balsamic oils as well as usual salt & pepper. Lovely comfortable bed & pillows gave us 7 peaceful nights sleep . I would highly recommend staying at The Reading Room & hope to go back again .
