The area provides a wealth of things to see and do; both by car, public transport and on foot. Local towns and villages are all full of character and interest. Nearby Calonge, Palamos and Platja D’Aro are well worth a walk. The fishing town of Palamos is where many local fishermen deliver their catch. It provides an array of stunning restaurants that serve mouthwatering fresh sea food as their speciality. Slightly further a field are towns such as Palafrugell, Begur, Pals, La Bisbal and St Feliu. There are many coves and bays that can be reached on foot and in some cases by car that offer spectacular views and scenery. For a day out Figueres (home of Salvador Dali) and Vic are worth visiting, not to mention Girona itself and of course Barcelona. Remember to allow time for visiting before everything closes for lunch/siesta at 1pm. (Normally re-opens at 4pm but can vary). The local town of Palamos is where you can get buses to many of these places if you don't want to drive.
