"I stayed at El Delfin Lodge from 4/19–4/24 and overall the experience was disappointing.
At check-in, the manager mentioned that during spring break they kept nearly every guest’s deposit due to damages, which seemed extreme at the time but made more sense by the end of our stay.
The biggest issue is that the property does not match how it’s presented on Expedia. The photos appear outdated as the hotel looks much more worn in person. The pool was clean but much smaller than it appears, and despite the listing implying whirlpool tubs, our room did not have one.
The room itself was underwhelming. It wasn’t filthy, but it wasn’t clean either. The bedspreads had visible stains, the bathroom walls had dirt or mold, and the mattresses were old, lumpy, and offered no support. The pillows were cheap and uncomfortable.
Amenities were minimal. No coffee maker in the room, the ice machine didn’t work the entire stay, and the lobby had almost no snacks or drinks. Only coffee was offered in the morning.
The most concerning part was the deposit. We paid $100 at check-in. After checkout, they kept $50 because a washcloth had makeup on it and a towel was dirty from normal use. There were no stains or damage, just items used as intended.
I asked for documentation explaining what qualifies as “damage,” and none was provided.
This doesn’t feel like a damage deposit, it feels like a way to keep part of it regardless. I would not stay here again."
