Loved the view and the proximity

Best view of the canyon as far as I am concerned. We had a snow storm while we were there and the house had everything to keep us warm and cozy. The trails were wonderful and the hot tub was a blessing after a 12 mile hike.

Our stay at the Dove’s Rest Fortress was like a dream! This place was beyond stunning! The pictures really can’t capture how beautiful the view really is. The views from the back patio are just breathtaking! The home is spacious and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen and lots of towels and blankets and toilet paper. Jeff is a super host! Very responsive and kind. He even had a bottle of champagne, and two keep-sake Dove Rest glasses waiting for us for a special occasion. John and Bambi

Peaceful evenings with beautiful views. The communication with the owners is very easy and they are quick to respond. Wonderful welcome gift of sparkling cider and champagne with two complimentary flutes was a pleasant surprise. Definitely worth staying here when you visit the area.

Serene Paradise

This house is fabulous, particularly the patio, porch and views. The house is comfortable and relaxing and is very private through its own secure gate. Constant cool breeze made even a warm afternoon pleasant and relaxing on the porch and it's about 5 mintues from the park entrance, so easy to go back and forth as needed. Wish I could have stayed longer!!

Perfect Long Weekend

Property is lovely - great views. Plenty of firewood. Kitchen has lots of pots and pans - easy to cook here. And better still the concierge service made sure our groceries were in the house when we arrived. Good communication on directions and how to work the key pad for the house and the gate. We will be back!!

The Fortress @ Palo Duro Canyon

We had a wonderful stay at the Fortress Cabin (Doves Rest Resorts). The management team was great and the entire process from booking thru check-out was seamless. The cabin was exactly as advertised and was so cozy and comfortable. The location was perfect, very close to all the hiking trails. It sits on the rim of the canyon and the views were spectacular. The entire property was extremely clean, including the hot tub and grill. The cabin and the rental experience exceeded our expectations in every respect. We will definitely recommend the Fortress to others, and we hope to return ourselves!

Doves Rest Cabin-Fortress On the Rim

Location was outstanding. The view was magnificent. The house is just about 50 feet from the rim of the canyon and the view is absolutely incredible. As far as the house is concerned, I have to tell you I have been renting locations for special occasions for over 30 years and this property was the very best equipped in every area and also the cleanest. If I could give it a 10 start for all categories I would. If you're looking for a tremendously great place, for a relaxing stay, rent the Fortress property, you will not regret your decision. My wife and I intent to rent the same location for our anniversary in May. The owners were extremely easy to deal with and were responsive to every need.

Truly The Most Spectacular Views Of My Life

I have been using VRBO for roughly 20 years. This was the best communication from the owner/management I've ever experienced, by far. House was clean and charming. The view was breathtaking. Even my teenagers' exclaimed it was the best view of their lives and began to FaceTime family and friends to show off this special place. We cooked spaghetti and ate outside with that view. Then I woke up and did it all again with that view and my coffee. Cool general store and beer/wine bar called The Sad Monkey and only 4 min drive away. Thank you! Jonathan

Spectacular View!

We had a wonderful time (3 nights) at the Fortress cabin. The view is spectacular and we enjoyed the privacy of the property. The house had most everything we needed (no foil, plastic wrap, etc if you plan on cooking…but no big deal). The bed is very comfortable. They provided coffee pods for the keurig! We had a full day of nonstop rain and high winds so we were at the house all day and still enjoyed the view and the comfort of the house. Sad Monkey Mercantile is just down the road so we popped in for great sandwiches and iced coffee (and shopping). We were able to see the eclipse from the bottom of the canyon…not quite a full eclipse but still very cool to see! We hope to be back to Dove’s Rest this Fall for a few days.

This was the ideal home to stay in to see the canyon and relax after traveling from Colorado to Texas!!! Highly recommend taking a little more time to stay here and enjoy a spectacular sunset and sunrise on the patio!!!! What a fabulous clean home with everything you need to enjoy your stay!!

Amazing getaway
