We had a 4 night stay at the house/apartment, it is right in the middle of the walled town a great location, restaurants, bars, shops including a bakery in-fact everything is nearby, so you don’t need a hire car the airport is 10 minutes in a taxiAccommodation was just right so all in all a great break.

We had a fantastic fortnight’s stay in Sylvie’s wonderful gîte. The location is sensational - right in the heart of the medieval city. It felt a privilege to be there, it’s so special. Check-in could not be easier - a number code, provided in advance. Also good instructions for where to park the car (there’s a permit for free parking and we never struggled to get a spot even in August).The gîte was clean, well furnished and equipped and very comfortable (inc the beds!). Excellent washing machine, dishwasher and hob. The open plan living area is a generous size and allowed us to relax in comfort.Worth noting that It was boiling hot whilst we were there, but we were able to regulate the temperature pretty well with the excellent fans and using the window shuttersThere’s an incredible bakery across the street - they also have a garden in which you can eat their lovely pastries and coffee. Lots of wonderful places to eat within a very short walk. We’d be delighted to return one day! Not least also because Sylvie is so lovely, helpful and accommodating.

Very nice house! Very clean. With the widows closed it is quiet, but quite loud on the street side all day and night if they are open. It could use some ceiling fans for the hot summer nights. More towels would be nice, as well. Overall met all of our needs with the washing machine helping with the towel shortage. There is not a clothes dryer, but a drying rack is provided. Really cute place to stay within the medieval city of Carcassonne!

Nice apartment

The beds were really comfortable and shower was great. Kitchen seemed have a good selection of things though we didn’t do any cooking. You need to bring in any food if you are not eating out. There are no supermarkets etc within the grounds. The bakery across the street is fabulous and does good coffee. Great location and also great to be there outside tourist hours. The apartment would be really hot in summer. Only one complaint. Our first night was hot and we put on the portable air con. It was next to useless unless you stood in front of it. There were no instructions so maybe we didn’t use it correctly.

Wow! What a great place!

I’ve stayed at quite a few BnB’s and this one was fantastic. Sylvia was extremely quick to communicate, efficient and helpful. Sylvia’s place looks better than the photos. You are very close to the centre of the medieval town, within the old walls. The location is fantastic with am amazing bakery across the street, and numerous restaurants nearby. Sylvia’s place was extremely clean and well equipped. There was more than enough room. The kitchen was well equipped, although we didn’t do any cooking. The bedrooms are large and the main bathroom is large as well. The water pressure is excellent and there is plenty of hot water. Check-in was extremely easy, and un-like some of the other BnB’s in France and Spain, Sylvia gave us check in instructions well before we arrived, rather than just a few minutes prior or after check in time, which seems to becoming more common. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We would definitely return and recommend Sylvia’s place to others.

Amazing

I cant give this property enough credit. It was amazing in everyway. The bedrooms were large and bathroom modern and comfortable. The downstairs lounge was very big and kitchen ideal. What was special was the outside courtyard for chilling out. I cant thank the host sylvia enough, i had lost my watch before we left for the airport. Sylvia found it and actually got it to me in the airport as we were boarding. No idea how she did but cant thank her enough. Perfect apt right in the centre of the medieval city. Magical.

Wonderful place

A beautiful and unique place to stay right in the middle of the city. Lots of space, very clean, everything that you could need or want. A lovely outdoor space, great window in the living room to watch the happenings of the city and a very responsive and helpful host. Highly recommend.

What an amazing property in the heart of the gorgeous medieval city.

The property was gorgeous, clean and right in the heart of the medieval city which was perfect for our festival in the Chateau. The host was so helpful and friendly, will be back if she will have us. :)

Stylish apartment in atmospheric location

This is a well-appointed apartment inside the bustling medieval citadel. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. The only downside, for what is a self-catering holiday, is that vehicular access is still quite a way from the gîte, so be prepared to carry food and luggage a few hundred yards from the car park. Alternatively plan to eat out every night in the many restaurants within the citadel. Overall we had a really enjoyable week soaking up the history of Carcassonne and the surrounding Cathar region.

Right in the heart of the medieval city

We enjoyed our stay here at Carcassonne. The gite is very spacious and well-equipped. I especially enjoyed being able to go out and stroll the empty streets and walls in the early mornings before the tourist crowds arrived. Sylvie made the process very easy for us and responded quickly with communication. Merci beaucoup!

Un séjour très agréable au coeur de la cité.

Nous venons de passer une semaine très agréable dans le logement de Sylvia, situé au coeur de la belle cité de Carcasonne.. Le logement est en tous points conforme à la description. Bâtisse de 400 ans mise aux normes de confort moderne et effectué avec beaucoup de goût. On se laisse envoûter par la magie du lieu, au soleil couchant a 2 pas de la cathédrale et du château comtal.(les levées de jour ne sont pas mal non plus, on a la cité pour soi avant l'arrivée des touristes). Sans oublier les besoins plus terre à terre, à combler par un choix de restaurants aussi variés que bons. Bref un séjour recommandé. Anne Marie Girault

Fantastic location

The apartment is in a fantastic location within the ramparts, with a great choice of restaurants on the doorstep. Walking around late at night when the crowds had dispersed was magical. It was incredibly hot when we stayed, and as such we spent a lot of time sat outside on the terrace in the evenings. Having outside space was great, but the garden furniture needs a bit of a deep clean, and the terrace (with a covered rusty bbq in the corner) needs some attention. I think we only noticed this as we stayed for 12 nights in August (in the midst of COVID!) and so spent a lot of time outside! But it is a fantastic location and we enjoyed our stay very much.

At The Heart of Things......

The property was ideal for our purposes, a short break for two couples (advanced years....) in this astonishing 'castle' overlooking the 'Bastide' or city of Carcassonne. We were metres away from countless bistros and restaurants, all of which were reasonably priced and produced lovely dishes it seemed. Silvia's gite was comfortable, stylish and functional. Very pleased with our choice.

A superb location and great property for any length of holiday

We had a fantastic time staying at Sylvia’s property. We’ve stayed in Carcassonne several times, but this the first inside the Ramparts. So convenient, we had everything we needed close by and also in the property. A great host who was so helpful, a great place and a great location. Thanks again!

Gite is in a great location. Very spacious for up to four people with pretty much everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Would recommend Restaurant Adelaide. Fixed price is very good value and quality. The location is right in front of the Chateux ramparts, quite atmospheric during the evening. Also an aperitif on the garden terrace of Hotel de la Cite with some very scenic views across to the new cite. A big thank you to Sylvie for making our stay a very memorable and enjoyable one.

Très bien située. Un peu chaud en été.

L'arrivée a été un peu chaotique, le garde-barrière ayant refusé de nous laisser entre sous les remparts pour déposer nos bagages. L'appartement très bien situé, en plein centre de la cité de Carcassonne, est très confortable. Le parking gratuit, à proximité de la cité, est un plus. Le seul souci est le manque de climatisation (bien qu'il y ait des ventilateurs), qui transforme les chambres, sous les toits, en étuve lors des nuits chaudes de l'été. Sinon, le reste est parfait. La photo d'accroche de l'annonce ne montre en fait que l'entrée de la rue, ce qui est un peu trompeur. L'appartement et en fait situé plus loin dans la rue, une petite porte entre un magasin de poterie et un restaurant, et ne donne pas sur la place. Au final, un bon séjour, une fois la canicule passée.

Wonderful experience!

We stayed at Sylivie's Gite for 4 days/3 nights in July. The Gite was spacious, well organized, clean, and very nice. We had everything we needed (minus a few towels, but it was no problem). The Gite is located right in the heart of the Medieval City, so we were always only a few steps away from the action. We also ventured outside the city one day, and the parking is very convenient. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The only negatives we encountered had nothing to do with the Gite itself, but circumstance...such as the heat! It was very hot while we were there. We would stay here again, for sure. Thank you Sylvie!
